13:31 Newmarket – Persist

ITV Saturday gets under way here with a fillies’ handicap over 1m2f. PERSIST doesn’t do much in front and might still be a little ahead of the handicapper for William Haggas with Cieren Fallon taking the ride. The Cheveley Park filly has penty of experience and stays well. The seventh in the Sandringham was a fine effort and she only just did enough at Haydock last time over this trip and has thus been put up only 2lb.

13:51 Ascot – King’s Lynn

ITV are also at Ascot Saturday for the Listed Rous Stakes over 5f. This is a great chance for The King to score with KING’S LYNN for Andrew Balding and David Probert. The five-year-old has to give weight away but is useful over this trip when on song as when scoring at Haydock in May. Since then he has been over 6f at Ascot and not disgraced behind Nature Strip in the King’s Stand. Another with eachway claims today.

14:06 Newmarket – Skysail

A valuable sales race for juveniles over 6f. SKYSAIL has to improve massively on what she has done in two runs to win a race like this but she’s a fascinating runner for Marcus Tregoning and Dougie Costello. An eyecatching debut behind a horse who has done well since was followed up by a decent success at Newbury and I like the fact the colt stays this trip stronger. Definite eachway claims.

    14:25 Ascot – Hamish

Now it’s the Group 3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes over 1m4f. High Definition has been a giraffe for a long time now and while somewhere in his body is a bundle of ability it’s easy to think HAMISH is more reliable. The William Haggas runner, a rare ride for the stable for Pat Dobbs, has been in good form this term at Chester and at the Curragh when beaten by Kyrpios in the Irish St Leger. This trip is as short as he wants but he should be too good. Will welcome any more rain.

    14:42 Newmarket – Prosperous Voyage

One of the feature races of the day in the Group 1 Sun Chariot for fillies and mares over 1m. Saffron Beach is the most likely winner and if you like a short-priced favourite you are going to have a great chance. I prefer to wager eachway on PROSPEROUS VOYAGE who is over-priced for Rob Hornby and Ralph Beckett. The shock Falmouth winner was far from disgraced in the Jacques le Marois last time and should stay on better than most. Hard to keep out the frame with a chance of winning.

    15:00 Ascot – Ehraz

Another Group 3 here in the Bengough Stakes over 6f. EHRAZ has never quite done what I think he can but I’ll play a few quid eachway here for Richard Hannon and Dane O’Neill. My hope has been off the track since Royal Ascot when sixth in the Commonwealth Cup behind re-opposing Flaming Rib. I’m hoping he can still do better than that as I follow him off the old cliff.

    15:21 Redcar – Cold Case

ITV show one from Redcar which is this Listed Two-Year-Old Trophy over 6f. I see no reason why COLD CASE won’t follow up his success at Doncaster in the big sales race there for Karl Burke and Clifford Lee. That race was over an extended 6f and I think this trip will be absolutely perfect for a horse who was third in the Gimcrack at York. Hard to beat.

    15:36 Ascot – River Nymph

A competitive handicap over 7f. RIVER NYMPH definitely has the ability to win a race like this and has an eachway shout for Clive Cox and Adam Kirby. The four-time winner was behind Fresh last time but has two fantastic recent runs at this track and goes well in this type of event. Just needs a bit of luck.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
