14:00 -Pocket the Profit

POCKET THE PROFIT wasn’t seen to best effect when last seen finishing third at Epsom in June, passing the post just half a length behind the winner and looking unlucky not to finish closer still having missed the break. He can line up from the same mark today and his good record when fresh suggests his subsequent absence shouldn’t be a negative. The booking of leading amateur Simon Walker also catches the eye and Pocket The Profit seems sure to take plenty of beating as he seeks a sixth career win for the George Boughey yard.

14:35 – Aggagio

AGGAGIO made it three wins from his last five starts with a hard-fought success at Goodwood earlier this month, edging ahead in the final 100 yards to land the spoils by half a length. He isn’t the type to ever win by far and that has seemingly helped him to stay one step ahead of the handicapper. He remains potentially well treated from a BHA mark of 87 and there is no reason why he shouldn’t be thereabouts once again if continuing in the same rich vein of form.

15:10 – Sweet William

SWEET WILLIAM shaped with plenty of encouragement when filling the runner-up spot on his debut at Kempton 18 days ago, taking a while to get the hang of things before staying on strongly to pass the post just a neck behind the winner. That form sets the standard in this line-up and he seems sure to improve with the run under his belt. He is bred to be smart (by Sea The Stars and a half-brother to the Irish Derby/St Leger winner Hurricane Lane) and this looks an ideal opportunity for him to get off the mark at the second attempt.

15:45 – Secret State

SECRET STATE bettered his efforts in handicaps when finding only Deauville Legend too good in the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York last month, sticking to his task well to be beaten less than three lengths. That was another smart performance and the way he shaped there suggests the longer trip today could eke out a bit more improvement. He’s also had wind surgery since his run at York and his connections will be hoping he can capitalise on the drop in grade to get his head back in front.

16:20 – Lethal Nymph

LETHAL NYMPH produced a career best to resume winning ways over this course and distance last time, looking more professional than previously as he kept going well to get the verdict by a neck. This will be tougher from a 3 lb higher mark, but Lethal Nymph is fancied to prove equal to the task. After all, this will be just the eighth start of his career and there could be plenty more to come from him now that he’s back in the winning groove.

16:55 – Yantarni

YANTARNI was turned over at short odds on his latest outing at Newmarket, wasting what had looked a good opportunity as he failed to reel in the front-running winner. Still, he was beaten just half a length and the first two pulled clear of the rest. A repeat of that form will give him every chance of regaining the winning thread today and the application of first-time cheekpieces could prove an inspired move given that he didn’t look entirely straightforward under pressure last time.
