13:32 – Gert Lush

A few with chances should they be on a going day but GERT LUSH was producing his third solid run on the bounce when winning at Goodwood. Prince Achille won’t be far away with a repeat of his Nottingham form and Rita Rana also goes on the shortlist.

14:05 – Fullforward

The solid options are Zakram and FULLFORWARD after making the frame in that order at Chepstow. The latter can reverse those placings if kept closer to the pace this time. Molly Mays Hope probably has a race in him.

14:40 – She’s Hot

Good market support for Andrew Balding’s newcomer Star Of Mayo will spice things up a bit but by far the most obvious answer is SHE’S HOT, who has shown some fairly useful form. The filly suffered a short-odds defeat at Thirsk a month ago but she was up against a very progressive colt there and certainly didn’t run badly.

15:15 – Hiromichi

After two wins at about this distance when ridden prominently, it was surprising to see HIROMICHI held up off the pace when dropped to 6f at Chepstow. Returning to 7f looks the right move, irrespective of how he’s ridden. Connie’s Rose, ahead of the selection last time, is the second choice. The likelihood of a solid gallop brings Above It All right into the equation.

15:50 – Copperplate

This is as open as the numbers suggest but if there is one ahead of the game it’s the penalised COPPERPLATE, who hasn’t looked back since fitted with blinkers. Alkhattaaf is better than he showed last time and he’s another with more upside than a lot of these. Singing The Blues should give his running, as he usually does.

16:23 – Byron Hill

Solid options are lacking but BYRON HILL gave his most positive performance of the campaign last time and is well handicapped on last season’s form. He may be up to winning on this second start for Richard Hughes. Arthalot is second on the list, having been denied in the final strides over C&D last time, with Shibuya Song, City Spirit and Rushford also considered.

16:55 – Curtiz (NAP)

This can go to C&D winner CURTIZ (nap), who signalled a return to form when placed on heavy ground this month and remains very well handicapped. Youarenotforgiven comes here after giving a very good account at Doncaster and is not yet fully exposed. Handicap debutant V Twelve is next on the list.

17:30 – So Smart

Desperately unlucky still to be a maiden, SO SMART stuck to his task admirably well when second of 16 at Redcar on Wednesday and, with the help of Saffie Osborne’s useful 3lb claim, he is selected to get off the mark at the 17th attempt. Symbol Of Hope found 6f on soft ground too taxing at Chepstow a fortnight ago but today’s test will be much more suitable and he has slipped to a dangerous mark. Coup De Force and Atty’s Edge can also feature.
