WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

13:30: Haydock – Raven’s Up

Has improved dramatically with each of her races so far, resulting in a very smooth success at Ripon and she won’t be inconvenienced by the switch to this flatter, galloping track at Haydock. A mark of 79 could well underestimate Raven’s Up true potential and the young jockey on top, Benoit De La Sayette, is chasing hard for the Apprentice championship.

13:50: Newmarket – Zanbaq

Roger Varian’s runner was progressing nicely through the grades and she ran very well in the Sandringham at the Royal meeting, only finding Heredia too good. Her last run can be forgiven as she never saw much daylight in the closing stages and had a very troubled passage.

Connections have given Zanbaq plenty of time to regroup before finding what looks a perfect opportunity to start her off again. This can be a stepping stone to go back up the ladder in grade.

14:05: Haydock – Croupier

Managed to win at Windsor last time in the Racing League and did really well over what could prove his ideal distance, if he settles a little better. Luckily there are a whole host of runners that like to go forward in this race and he should get the perfect lead into the contest. Moon Watch is bound to be over bet in the market with his wonderful pedigree and Croupier may fly under the radar.

14:25: Newmarket –  Voodoo Queen

She’s not the easiest to settle in the early stages and wasn’t seen to best effect last time in the Sir Henry Cecil Stakes at York. Voodoo Queen continuously fought for her head through the first half mile and hopefully they drop her in a little bit more behind horses in this contest to give her a chance of finishing off her race better.

Sea Silk Road will be ridden handily as she stays so well. Voodoo Queen can put a target on her back and strike late.

14:40: Haydock – Post Impressionist

He went off favourite for a red-hot handicap at the Royal meeting and was far too babyish to get the job done. Post Impressionist is slowly starting to catch onto what is required and it was the final furlong at Beverly last time that really caught the eye. Post Impressionist is going to relish the step up in distance to 1m 6f and I can see a big jolt of improvement coming on this galloping track.

15:00: Newmarket – Commissioning

The Gosden’s runner made a pretty big impression on her racecourse debut 55 days ago at this track as she wasn’t fully focused until her jockey got her to knuckle down and answer his urgings.

When she did, it was pretty impressive. They’re aiming pretty high on only her second racecourse appearance, but her handler doesn’t over-face them, so we should take the hint.

15:35: Newmarket – El Drama

We are taking a chance on his fitness from 398 days away from the track but the Roger Varian yard couldn’t be in better form. He has kept a very high level of company overall and has an entry on Champions Day at Ascot so this may well just put him spot-on for that. However, he looks to have the required ability to win this on his return.

Jason’s Weaver’s Friday Picks:

13:30 – Ravens Up
13:50 – Zanbaq
14:05 – Croupier
14:25 – Voodoo Queen
14:40 – Post Impressionist
15:00 – Commissioning
15:35 – El Drama
