GALACTIC JACK was an encouraging third on his debut over a mile at this course last month and he seems sure to come on for that experience, so gets the nod to strike at the second time of asking with his pedigree pointing to this longer trip playing to his strengths. Midnight Lion, Mildyjama and Rathgar are others who should build on quite promising opening efforts in a race which will be worth keeping an eye on moving forward.
14:25 – SUBSTANTIAL
There is a wide-open look to this race and, while SUBSTANTIAL isn’t as battle-hardened as some of the other racers, a few things conspired against him at Thirsk last time and he’s given another chance to show he’s a low-mileage sort heading in the right direction. Fellow unexposed four-year-old Alazwar heads the dangers along with Red Mirage and Victoria Cup winner Vafortino.

15:00 – TREACHEROUS
TREACHEROUS went down only narrowly to a subsequent winner at Doncaster last time and, in the hope he gets a strong pace to aim at, he might be up to giving the weight away and finally snapping his losing run. Pettochside was possibly caught on the wrong part of the track here last time and this veteran is well treated on his placed efforts earlier in the year, while Antiphon may prove best off the rest in a competitive race.
15:35 – ROYAL FLEET
ROYAL FLEET was in top form at Meydan earlier this year, finishing runner-up in a couple of Group 2s before winning the Group 3 Dubai Millennium Stakes over a similar trip on his final start in February. He represents a yard that has no trouble getting one ready after a break and he looks the one to beat on his return to British soil back in listed company. Sinjaari is another solid operator who will appreciate a return to this longer trip and is feared most.

16:10 – SECRET SHADOW
SECRET SHADOW shaped very well on her reappearance over this course and distance in May in a race which worked out well and she clearly wasn’t 100 percent when disappointing at Haydock next time. She bounced right back to form following eight weeks off when resuming winning ways back at this venue last month and a subsequent 4 lb rise may not be enough to stop her following up. The thriving Wickywickywheels seems sure to put up a fight though in search of a five-timer.
16:45 – TOMMY G
TOMMY G capitalised on a falling mark when resuming winning ways at Ayr last week and he is 2 lb well-in turned out under a penalty here. Admittedly, that was his eighth career success at that track, so he clearly has an affinity with the place, but he is a past winner here too, and won’t be fazed by a step back up in trip. Lawn Ranger took a step back in the right direction at Newbury recently also and will be a danger if building on that.
17:20 – INDIAN CREEK
Competitive stuff with INDIAN CREEK just about the most persuasive option given he’s had excuses on several occasions since winning at Windsor in June and is now back on that successful mark. Glamorous Breeze continues in good heart and is a danger, while Dream By Day may yet have more to offer for new connections.
