A winner on debut at Brighton last month, CITE D’OR has shown improved form faced with stiffer tasks the last twice, pulling clear with a big improver when runner-up at Redcar 24 days ago. This doesn’t look as strong, so she gets the nod to come out on top, possibly at the chief expense of Silk Bird, who looks sure to have derived plenty from her encouraging debut fourth at Thirsk. Montevideo is a newcomer to note, too.

SQUEALER capitalised on the return to calmer waters when getting off the mark at York recently despite being easy to back in the market. His profile is a progressive one and there should be more to come, so he looks the way to go under a penalty. Havana By The Sea opened her account over course and distance last week and seems sure to be thereabout, while the returning Zuffolo and Miss Brazen are also considered.

This is a useful contest and one where ACKLAM EXPRESS is taken to resume winning ways. He has a couple of standout pieces of form this year when finishing runner-up in a Group 2 at Meydan and third in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. He wasn’t at his best in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York last time but should find this test easier. Clarendon House, who wasn’t far behind the selection last time, is a past course and distance winner, and can provide the biggest threat.
16:02 Runaholic
RUNAHOLIC has more experience than most of these and, having found only one too good on each of his last two starts in similar company, today could be the day he gets his head in front. It’s All About You showed plenty to work on when third on debut at Goodwood and is feared, along with Mawada and Sea Master.
16:37 Tollard Royal
An interesting handicap likely to be run at a sound pace and it may pay to side with TOLLARD ROYAL, who was successful over course and distance on return, and he’s likely to find this less demanding than his assignments in handicaps to date with the assessor having relinquished his grip. Qipao produced a career best when scoring herself over course and distance six weeks ago and is a threat, along with the thriving Autumn Festival.
17:10 Bearwith
BEARWITH arrives in good order, making it two wins from his last four starts when seeing off another in-form sort at Ripon three weeks ago, and he could be up to defying a 3 lb higher mark with the drop back in trip unlikely to pose a problem. Captain Corelli, who was runner-up in this race 12 months ago, Motarajel and Zumurud head up the dangers in an open handicap to finish.
