INSTALLATION proved a disappointment when finishing only fourth at Thirsk last time, but he had valid excuses after getting upset in the stalls. He is better judged on the form of his debut at York in June where he shaped encouragingly in third, running on well under a hands-and-heels ride to be beaten less than two lengths. That form sets the standard in this novice event and he is worth another chance to get back on an upward curve in a first-time visor.
ROSHAMBO showed improved form to get off the mark on her handicap debut at Newcastle last month, only winning by half a length but looking value for extra having come from further back than the other principals. She is only 3 lb higher in the weights today and it’s not out of the question that she may yet have more to offer after just four starts. She seems sure to go well again in her follow-up bid for Julie Camacho.
GIFTED RULER was a useful handicapper at his best, notably finishing placed multiple times from a mark in the low-90s. Admittedly, he is yet to fire in three starts this season, but this represents a significant drop in grade now running in a seller for the first time. The application of cheekpieces could also spark a revival and this looks an excellent opportunity for him to gain a first success since winning a Haydock maiden back in September 2019.
CALETA SUNRISE got right back on track when filling the runner-up spot in a novice event at Catterick 12 days ago, giving best to a less-exposed rival inside the final furlong but pulling clear of the rest. She is back in a handicap today and the balance of her form suggests she could be well treated from a BHA mark of 66. The soft going won’t be an issue and she looks to have plenty in her favour as she tries to belatedly shed her maiden tag.
BASHOLO was a bit disappointing over this course and distance on her penultimate start, but she bounced back with a good third at Newcastle last time, keeping on well to pass the post less than a length behind the winner. She is only 1lb higher in the weights today and this will be just her fourth start over five furlongs. She seems to be getting the hang of sprinting and rates a very solid selection to register her second victory of the season.

CLAN JOCK is already a three-time winner at Hamilton this season and there was again plenty to like about his latest effort in defeat at this course. He was beaten just a neck on that occasion and arguably should have won, doing well to finish as close as he did having been caught further back than ideal in a steadily-run race. He is back up in trip today and remains very much one to be interested in despite a further 2 lb rise in the weights.
A LA FRANCAISE ran her best race since joining the Jim Goldie stable when finishing a close-up third at Southwell 10 days ago, passing the post just a length and a half behind the winner despite hanging left from over a furlong out. She can line up from the same mark today and this is also a much weaker race than the one she contested at Southwell. In a wide-open finale, she gets the vote to open her account at the eleventh attempt.
