Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets). The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
Several in-form contenders but this could be between the two unexposed Newmarket-trained 3yos who are making their handicap debuts. MISTY DANCER impressed when landing a Goodwood maiden three weeks ago and is preferred over the well-bred Remembering. My Little Queens is next on the list, while Golden Melody, Dungar Glory and Smiling Jayne also ran well last time out.
Placed in two of his five runs in maidens; MCCAULEY’S TAVERN is not badly treated on the basis of Curragh third behind subsequent Listed winner Hellsing; last three outings raise doubts and all his form has been over further; promising rider’s 7lb claim is a plus.
Comfortable win at Beverley (1m2f, good to firm) in July in SHIMMERING SANDS‘ second handicap and back to winning ways at Leicester (1m2f, good) last month when defying trouble in running; drops back in trip here but he’s a headstrong sort and could prove fully effective at 1m; on the up and this 3yo is a key player if conditions suit (unproven on slow ground).
Convinced much more as a stayer of 1m at Haydock last time (good), albeit still beaten nearly 3l; this is no easier a contest, but a good showing for BRUNELLO BREEZE couldn’t be ruled out if timing the challenge better still.
