It’s possible HAVANA BY THE SEA was slightly flattered by her 80-1 fifth in a big field at York but she’d shaped nicely on her debut and still looks the likeliest winner. Perhaps Bedazzling, who met trouble first time out and represents a strong Newmarket yard, will pose the biggest threat, although Arewenearlyhome and the stablemates Chattel Village and Oahu need to be considered as well.

Anjo Bonita and Rosette (second choice) are knocking on the door and hold the edge on form too, so seem sure to have a big say if handling the forecast slow ground. Newcomers Scarlet and Powdering are in good hands and not without interest either but the votes goes to VETIVER, who shaped really well when a debut second at Chepstow and could take a sizeable step forward now presented with this stiffer test of stamina.
15:27 Storm Fox
The well-bred STORM FOX looked to be in need of the experience when a fair fourth on her recent debut at York and she could be a big improver. She earns the vote ahead of Caesars Pearl, who pulled hard over 7f at Doncaster on her first start and could appreciate this drop in trip. Azucena, Foretell, Impeachment and Tephi could also be involved in an open race.

The return of cheekpieces is a positive for EY UP IT’S MAGGIE and she can capitalise on the help she has received from the handicapper. May Blossom likes it here and is feared most ahead of fellow C&D winners Elegant Erin and Sherdil.

Broadspear has the best form and the first-time cheekpieces may help, but he made it 0-6 when turned over at 1-16 at Chepstow recently, so there is a good reason to look elsewhere. FRANKENDAEL was an encouraging third on last month’s debut at Ripon and earns the vote ahead of the David Simcock-trained newcomer Iftikhaar.
17:05 Tele Red (NAP)
The most solid option is TELE RED (nap) who arrives in peak form having run well for Sam Feilden at Newbury on his most recent start. Today’s softer ground should not inconvenience him. The reliable Hostelry is second choice, while at the foot of the weights Dandy’s Angel and Jackamundo have each-way claims. The lurkers include Heathen, who could improve after gelding and breathing operations, and Hector’s Here, thrown in on his best form and now reunited with Jason Hart.
