Don’t know what a NAPs table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets). The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the table. Let’s get to the picks.
14:00 Doncaster – Magical Sunset (Daily Record, Garry Owen)
A €340,000 yearling, MAGICAL SUNSET was seemingly unfancied at 14-1 but it didn’t prevent her making a winning debut at Windsor (6f, good to firm) last month and the horse she pulled clear with gave the form a boost when scoring easily at Haydock the other day; holds Group entries later in the month; looks a very useful prospect.
14:15 Epsom – Derry Lad (Irish Herald, Ian Gaughran)
Two wins in Ireland, at Gowran Park (9.5f, soft) last October and at Sligo (1m2f, good to yielding) in May; only beaten a length into third of 17 at the Curragh (1m4f, good) last time and not hard to imagine DERRY LAD going close this time out.
17:15 Chepstow – The Golden Cue (The Irish Field, Rory Delargy)
Five-time sprint winner but THE GOLDEN CUE has been out of sorts since March 2021 and has plenty to prove after another short break. But the Paddy pundit is backing the 7-year-old.
18:35 Chelmsford – Flyawaydream (On The Nose, Expert Eye)
Three novice efforts in July have all worked out well since and FLYAWAYDREAM duly landed the odds when coming right away with one other last time; remains open to improvement and is respected.
