13:50 – Abaya Du Mathan
ABAYA DU MATHAN took a step back in the right direction when third at Worcester last week, arguably deserving extra credit after trying to mix it with the thriving winner. He can line up from the same mark today and this is a weaker contest in which he should take plenty of beating if building on his latest effort after just five days off.

14:25 – Gaulois
GAULOIS made the most of a good opportunity to regain the winning thread over this course and distance in July, staying on well to lead close home. The official winning margin was a length and the runner-up Heronord reopposes today on 4 lb better terms. There is unlikely to be much between the pair again, but Gaulois gets the vote to gain his third course success of the summer.
15:00 – Valentino
VALENTINO showed improved form to resume winning ways over this course and distance in May, edging ahead late on to get the verdict by a neck. This will be tougher following a 4 lb rise in the weights, but he is still relatively low mileage and it’s not out of the question that he may yet have a bigger effort in the locker. In a wide-open contest despite the small field, Valentino is fancied to make it four wins from his last five starts.
15:30 – Percys Word
PERCY’S WORD shaped encouragingly after eight weeks off when third at Fontwell last time, sticking to his task well to be beaten less than a length. That form sets the standard in this line-up by a wide margin, so he should be able to capitalise on the drop in grade to gain his fourth career success over hurdles.
16:00 – Belle Na Bann
BELLE NA BANN produced a career-best effort to get off the mark at Fontwell last month, responding well to pressure to lead close home. She won by a length with a bit in hand and the manner of that win suggests she remains well treated from just a 2 lb higher mark. She rates a solid selection to follow up for Neil Mulholland, who has his team in rude health (five winners from 23 runners in the last 14 days).
16:30 – Coal Stock
COAL STOCK ran another sound race when third at Stratford on Saturday, keeping on well to pass the post only three lengths behind the winner. This will be a quicker-than-ideal turnaround, but he is clearly on a good mark and the drop in grade provides him with an excellent opportunity to add to his victory over this course and distance in August.

17:00 – Bobby Socks
BOBBY SOCKS again showed fair form when last seen filling the runner-up spot at Hereford in April, ultimately proving no match for the winner but sticking to his task well to pull clear of the rest. That form puts him right in the mix here and his scope for more improvement after just two starts identifies him as very much the one to beat in the finale.
