13:15 Haydock – Naval Power

Naval Power set a very high standard for the others to improve past and he should be able to make it four wins in a row. If you’re looking for a little bit of value to run well and go in for the forecast, Seeking Gold is better than he has shown so far.

13:45 Haydock – Perotto (each way)

With plenty of question marks regarding the top of the market because they are adding blinkers and a visor, the value should lie with Perotto. Prior to this season he was rated 110. He has dipped below that form this season but he should get the perfect set up here with lots of pace to run at. He’s a massive each way price and hopefully the dead eight runners go to post.

14:05 Kempton – Gear Up

Gear Up is a Group 1 winning juvenile and he has returned to something like that early form for the new stable in five tries this season. He’s stepped onto the all-weather for the first time but it should hold no fears and he stays well. He can be confidently handled by his excellent young rider Dylan McMonagle.

14:20 Haydock – Post Impressionist

Post Impressionist only ran seven days ago at Beverly and it was not until very late in the day that he started to get going. He hit the line strongly. It’s therefore no surprise to see him jump up dramatically in distance for this assignment. He will love the galloping nature of the track and he could be underestimated off a mark of 86.

14:40 Kempton – First View

First View ran an absolute storm from an impossible stall position of 22 in the John Smith’s Cup at York recently. He was always towards the front end of that contest and he did well not to be beaten too far. He’s better positioned here from stall seven and he can provide his young rider Christian Howarth with his biggest success.

14:55 Haydock – Amtiyaz

Amtiyaz managed to win the Copper Horse handicap at the Royal meeting last season and he has only been seen once subsequently. He couldn’t overcome a massive layoff on his return at York 15 days ago but we are expecting him to strip much fitter for this test. He’s going to fly under the radar at an each-way price as everybody will be focusing in on easy York winner Salcombe.

15:10 Ascot – Shining Blue

Interestingly they’ve dropped Shining Blue back down to the long sprint distance of 7f having previously been drawn woefully in the Golden Mile at Goodwood and maybe doing a touch too much early last time at York. He should find a nice rhythm over this distance with a positive jockey booking on board in Neil Callan. Space Tracker is drawn close by and Shining Blue can latch onto his pace.

15:30 Haydock – Art Power

Providing Art Power doesn’t bounce after a superb return to action at York, he has to be a major player having placed fifth in this last year despite going far too quick in the early stages. He looks to have grown and strengthened into his frame and could be the proper finished article now as a five- year-old. I can’t resist a pound each-way on Chil Chil who ran really well in this last season.

15:45 Ascot – First Ruler

First Ruler has a wonderful pedigree and anything he achieved over the mile early in his career was going to be a bonus. The form of his victory last time has been boosted since and we can expect another chunk of improvement now he goes up in distance again.
