Starting to get the hang of racing now, QOYA showed improved form since stepping up in trips in handicaps, and proving better than ever when opening her account at Kempton last week. She broke on terms that day, which enabled her to race closer to the pace than previously, and she saw the race out strongly after being sent into the lead over a furlong out. The return to turf isn’t a concern and she looks the one to beat turned out under a penalty for all this looks a good race for the grade. Primi Ordinis looks an obvious type to improve in handicaps and has to be respected.

14:28 – Kitai
Cost €150,000 as a yearling ,and produced a promising performance when runner-up in a newcomers’ event over course and distance last month. KITAI bumped into a potentially smart one that day who has run well in defeat since and Kitai showed bundles of ability, so she is well up to winning a race of this nature with improvement forthcoming. Zouky heads the list of dangers following her successful racecourse debut at Newbury a fortnight ago.
15:03 – Khanjar
Belied notable market weakness when making a winning reappearance on handicap debut at Ripon in June, with KHANJAR proving much too strong for a well-treated rival in second. He ran at least as well when finishing third in a hot Newmarket handicap next time following a 9 lb rise and that looks strong form, and he remains a horse to be positive about on just his third start of the season. Ghathanfar is a most reliable performer and should acquit himself well again so looks the main danger.
15:38 – Soul Seeker
This looks a wide-open sprint handicap but SOUL SEEKER still figures on a fair enough mark and may be the one to side with. He has been a mixed bag this season, but bounced back to form with cheekpieces fitted when winning at Pontefract last month and he was only narrowly beaten at Beverley last week. He arrives in form and has been competitive from higher marks in the past so is entitled to go well again with the visor back on now. The speedy Eeh Bah Gum is another to consider having returned to form of late.
16:13 – Leitzel
LEITZEL was well backed and duly made a winning debut at this course last month and looked potentially useful in doing so, travelling through the contest with consummate ease and sealing matters with an instant turn of foot. There should be even more to come from her now and she looks a filly to keep on side. Miss Dynamic, who also looked a good prospect when successful at Doncaster on her second start, is feared most.
16:48 – Emily Post
A tricky contest to unravel despite the small field but the vote goes to EMILY POST. Ed Bethell’s charge put a below-par effort behind her when third under a change of tactics at Beverley last time and she may be up to landing a second career success today racing from the same mark. Spear Fir took her form up a notch when runner-up on handicap debut at Thirsk four weeks ago and she can give the selection most to think about.

Preference is for SHIBUYA SONG, who was well backed to open her account at Newbury two starts back, and was beaten only by the narrowest margin at Lingfield last time. She was well positioned on that occasion but proved herself to be still on a fair mark and she should appreciate this further step up in trip now sporting first-time cheekpieces. Shake A Leg arguably proved better than ever last time and should be on the premises again.
