Each and every day of the racing year we bring you a bumper NAPs table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
Don’t know what a NAPs table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets). The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the table. Let’s get to the picks.
13:20 Southwell – Ustath (Daily Mail)
Despite his penalty the unexposed 3yo Ramdon Rocks is a contender having got off the mark at Lingfield last time, probably winning with more in hand than the head margin would suggest, while the well-handicapped Wade’s Magic (second choice) is another worthy of respect on this first attempt at 6f on the AW. My Boy Jack may appreciate dropping back to 6f on the evidence of his fourth over 7f here on Monday, but another chance is given to C&D winner USTATH who has to put a lesser effort over 5f here last time behind him, but who should appreciate the return to this trip.
15:30 Lingfield – La Rav (Racing Post)
Five-time course winner Prince Rock showed more in a race not run to suit last time and will appreciate the return to 1m. He’s on the shortlist, along with the progressive One Step Beyond, but LA RAV came back to form off today’s career-low mark last time and gets the nod.
15:55 Gowran Park – Shawaf (On The Nose, Expert Eye)
Rated a bit higher on AW, SHAWAF looks capable of a first win on turf if improving just a little from last week’s Bellewstown third. That gives him an edge over Barnhill Rose whose overall form gives her a solid chance. Cherub Rock and Chimeric are worth considering on their respective second placings at this venue last time. Despite a high draw Rose Of Malta, who had no luck last time, is not without a chance for her in-form rider.
17:55 Hamilton – Slainte Mhath (Daily Mail)
Last year’s winner Kilconquhar is now much higher in the weights and Sir Benedict and Impressor have more persuasive claims on recent form. The latter deserves to get his head in front again but finished only two places in front of SLAINTE MHATH over 5f last Friday and today’s extra yardage could enable Katie Scott’s 4yo to turn the tables. Her stablemate Elladora also has a chance, and so does Le Cheval Rapide whose mark has been in freefall since his last success.
