15.24 Cartmel – The Vollan

Return to chasing has brought about a revival in fortunes for The Vollan this summer with the tongue strap and visor fitted, with three wins at Southwell. No disgrace when beaten in a match six days ago and has claims if bringing that form to this track.

15.31 Redredrobin – Chepstow

Redredrobin came good with ready C&D (good to firm) win last month, her 15th start, and lost out only by a neck on good ground when back here last week. A 2lb rise doesn’t help but she ought to be right in the thick of things again.

15.41 Ripon – Shouldvebeenaring

Shouldvebeenairing won a course and distance (C&D) novice (good to firm) on his second start and followed up by a head with very late bid when favourite for valuable 19-runner sales race at York (6f, good) over three months later. Has stepped forward markedly in each start and the same is likely today, so he could be bang there.

15.50 Epsom – Mascat

Mascat has competitive form off higher marks than this but he was tailed off over C&D in June and has been good and bad over hurdles since. The cheekpieces are tried to spark a revival.
