13:40 – Mc’ted

Returned to form with a comfortable victory at Newmarket earlier this month, MC’TED hit the front over two furlongs out and just needed to be kept up to his work from there to land the spoils by a length and three-quarters. This will be tougher from a 5lb higher mark, but he remains potentially well treated judged on the pick of his form. After all, he lines up today from a BHA mark of 65 having won off 64 over this course and distance as recently as May.

14:15 – New Dimension

Best not judged on his latest effort at Chelmsford, never managing to get on terms after making a mess of the start. That was just the third run of NEW DIMENSION‘s career and his first in a handicap, so it’s highly unlikely that we’ve seen the best of him yet. Trained by Sir Michael Stoute, he is certainly in the right hands to go on improving and a gelding operation since his handicap debut at Chelmsford could be the making of him.

14:50 – Cancan In The Rain

Could only manage sixth when well backed at Southwell last time, but had valid excuses given that CANCAN IN THE RAIN raced away from the other principals on the unfavoured part of the track. He has now offered something to work on in both his starts and this looks just an ordinary novice in which he sets the standard on form. He is likely to progress further and should mount a bold bid to get off the mark under Harry Davies, who is excellent value for his 3-lb claim.

15:20 – Manuha

MANUHA showed improved form when third in a novice event at Wolverhampton last time, albeit he was no match for the first two. He now makes the switch to nurseries and is very much one to keep on the right side in a weak contest. A BHA mark of 67 certainly looks a good starting point to life in this sphere and Connor Planas takes another 7-lb off his back. The step up to a mile is also likely to eke out a bit more improvement.

15:55 – Cubanista

The selection has been in top form on his last two starts, first winning at this course in June and then running at least as well in defeat when filling the runner-up spot at Leicester three weeks ago. He was beaten just half a length on the last occasion, coming from a long way back to push the winner all the way. He is only 2-lb higher in the weights today and this looks an ideal opportunity for CUBANISTA to resume winning ways if continuing in the same rich vein of form.

16:35 – Rose’s Girl

Still a maiden after 11 starts, but did nothing wrong when suffering a narrow defeat at Brighton last week, staying on well to pass the post just a nose behind the winner. She was in front in just a few more strides and it’s surely just a matter of time before ROSE’S GIRL belatedly opens her account on that evidence. She can line up from the same mark today and is worth another chance to gain a deserved first success.

17:10 – Beauty Choice

BEAUTY CHOICE took a step back in the right direction when fitted with first-time blinkers at Newmarket earlier this month, sticking to his task well to be beaten less than two lengths. He could arguably have his effort marked up given that he was always up with the strong gallop and the other principals all came from further back. He is still 6-lb below his last winning mark and the way he shaped last time suggests he could be ready to end his losing run.
