Each and every day of the racing year we bring you a bumper NAPs table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what a NAPs table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets). The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the table. Let’s get to the bets.
16:20 Brighton – Spanish Mane (The Sun)
Top of the list is Julia Feilden’s prolific winner SPANISH MANE, who has won twice at this track this season and was a close third behind a progressive 3yo at Yarmouth last time. Granary Queen has also had a productive time with her three wins this term and she’s feared most on her drop back in trip and grade. The other one on the shortlist is Madrinho, who could pose a serious threat if he gets a good pace and some luck.
16:40 Chepstow – Musical Mystery (Telegraph)
The previous winners, notably Willoughby Bay, are all worthy of respect but the maidens MUSICAL MYSTERY and Penguin Island are taken to fill the first two places, seeing as they are interesting types. Musical Mystery is knocking at the door and posted a solid effort last time, while Penguin Island could well improve off a reduced mark back over 6f.
18:40 Southwell – Dawson Lane (Racing Post)
A crackerjack of a race for the grade. So Grateful (second choice) was very well backed when seeing off 13 rivals over 6f in a 0-80 here eight days ago and he has to come right into the reckoning with the drop in trip unlikely to faze him. Harrogate returns to the AW off a 5lb lower mark than for a recent turf win, while Mews House, Ustath and Birdie Bowers also come here in good order. The really interesting runner is DAWSON LANE, who left the impression she could prove a fair bit better than this mark when fourth on her handicap debut in June, travelling very strongly but still looking inexperienced off the bridle. In what should be a well-run event she can show her true colours today.
19:30 Ballinrobe – Ramondo Dnzeo (Expert Eye)
Tricky stuff to say the least, but a chance is taken on RAMONDO DNZEO. A 3m maiden hurdle winner at Cork in July, he looks the type that could develop into a handy chaser and he has a nice opportunity here to lay down an early marker. The experienced pair Norwigi and Ujumpthelastuwin will not be short of support but bigger dangers could well be Whacker Clan and Mutual Respect.
