15:42 – Miss Attitude

A tricky opener to solve but preference is for MISS ATTITUDE. Mick Channon’s filly found further improvement when making a winning nursery debut at Newbury nine days ago, proving herself well ahead of her mark, and she is fancied to complete a hat-trick. Safari Dream heads up the opposition after his comfortable success under a change of tactics on handicap debut over course and distance last month.

16:12 – Primo’s Comet

This is very competitive and a chance is taken on PRIMO’S COMET, who arrives on the back of a very good fourth in a big-field handicap at York last time. He gained due reward for his consistency when winning at Musselburgh on his previous start, so clearly arrives in top form, and is 1 lb lower in the weights now. Furthermore, the booking of William Buick catches the eye, so another bold bid is expected. Devil’s Angel was a ready scorer at Haydock a fortnight ago and this course and distance winner is feared most.

16:42 – Tabaretta

No form to go on here so the market will prove informative, but Charlie Appleby landed this race 12 months ago, and looks to hold a strong hand again, chief amongst his representatives possibly TABARETTA. He’s related to a couple who were precocious as juveniles and it would come as no surprise to see him go well. Dasho Lennie, who holds a Group 2 entry, and the selection’s stablemate City of KIngs are others to consider.

17:12 – Aqwaam

AQWAAM is a lightly-raced four-year-old who built on earlier promise when running out a good winner of a competitive handicap at Galway last month and he may yet have more to offer. He took a keen hold on that occasion up in trip, but still saw his race out well inside the final furlong, and he may be able to kick on again now having got his head in front. One of the best apprentices around in Harry Davies is in the saddle and all looks set for a big run. Andaleep, who is a three-time course and distance winner and thriving at present, looks the main danger.

17:42 – Spirit Of The Bay

Very progressive last season, completing a four-timer over a mile at this course in September, SPIRIT OF THE BAY is yet to get her head in front this year. But her consistency is hard to knock, filling the runner-up spot three times. Spirit of The Bay split a pair of last-time-out winners on that occasion and she seems sure to launch another bold bid. Follow That Star improved when runner-up on handicap debut over course and distance recently so she heads up the dangers.

18:12 – Ikhtiraaq

IKHTIRAAQ is improving fast and, based on the ease in which he cleared away from two others at Pontefract a week ago, he can stay ahead of the handicapper for a while yet, so he’s a confident choice to complete a hat-trick for all this is a more-competitive scenario. Ascending had something to spare when winning at Goodwood and is a big danger, while Mercurius Power and Laguna Veneta are also considered.

18:42 – Evaluation

EVALUATION and El Picador have done well in this series and could be the pair to focus on, with Keith Dalgleish’s likeable four-year-old taken to notch up another victory back from a break. He shaped much better than the result at Newcastle last time and is almost certainly still on a good mark. His stablemate has been kept busy and can go well again, while Aggagio has been in superb form under both codes this season and has more to offer on the Flat, so looks a big player.
