Ballyogan day at Naas gets underway with a 7-furlong Fillies Maiden where MADLY TRULY can score on her second start for Joseph O’Brien and Dylan Browne McMonagle. The daughter of Cracksman was unlucky in running when short of room on the inside rail before finding day light when switched in the closing stages to finish an eye-catching second to Sheyya. She holds some high-class entries later this year and returns having been off feed when recently declared a non-runner at the Curragh.
Cyber Attack could be the main danger from the inform Gavin Cromwell stable following her debut fourth to Vernet at the Curragh last month. Freedom Falls is another interesting runner for Jack Davison following a debut fourth at Gowran Park, with the second and third, Karaoke and Hasten Slowly enhancing the form with subsequent wins in recent weeks. Any support for Pro Bono Alexander on debut for Jessica Harrington should be noted in what looks a competitive opener.

15:00 – Basil Martini
The drop back in trip should be ideal for BASIL MARTINI to break her maiden on her third career start for Joseph O’Brien and Declan McDonagh in this 6-furlong Fillies Maiden. The daughter of Starspangledbanner found Shelton too good when trying to dominate from the front over a furlong further at the Curragh earlier this month. Similar tactics are likely to be used by McDonagh from stall 9 to see her score ahead of the Aidan O’Brien trained Dower House.
The mount of Seamie Heffernan was a beaten favourite when second to Tahiyra at Galway and I’m surprised she’s dropping back in trip this Sunday. It looked to me that she would appreciate further both on pedigree and on that performance at Ballybrit. Elsewhere, Spirit Gal looks open to improvement on her debut fourth at the Curragh, while Clever And Cool, Local Music and One For Mum look the most intriguing newcomers.
15:30 – Bird Of Play
It’s hard to get away from BIRD OF PLAY and his eye-catching debut at the Curragh last weekend for Henry De Bromhead. The son of Free Eagle was slowly away from the stalls, last halfway before recording excellent closing sectionals to finish a strong second behind Daamberdiplomat. Wayne Lordan remains in the saddle and with the benefit of that experience, this juvenile can score ahead of Mount Ruapehu.
John Grogan’s runner gives plenty of weight away to all rivals following his recent placed efforts against Apricot Twist and Wave Machine here at Naas and at the Curragh. Elsewhere, Rubio Draco looks one of the interesting newcomers for Joseph O’Brien and Johne Murphy’s Thoroughbred Racing, while Halftime Show, Mount Mary and Munlaigh could challenge and would warrant a market check beforehand.
16:00 – Sacred Bridge
The feature Ballyogan Stakes looks a competitive renewal with plenty of British raiders crossing the Irish sea for this Group 3 contest. However, I’m staying local and siding with SACRED BRIDGE to return to winning ways for Ger Lyons and Gary Carroll. The daughter of Bated Breath can reverse the form with Ano Syra following the Phoenix Sprint Stakes earlier this month, having previously been ahead of Johnny Feane’s runner here in Listed company back in July.
Her victory over Ladies Church at Cork earlier this season reads well following success for Johnny Murtagh’s runner in the Sapphire Stakes last month. This Juddmonte owned filly also has the benefit of two previous course and distance wins as a juvenile last season and should get a good toe into the race from stall 11. Adaay To Remember is the most progressive of the British runners for Patrick Owens and warrants plenty of respect following her third to Flotus at York last month.

17:00 – Goodie Two Shoes
There was plenty to like about the manner of victory of GOODIE TWO SHOES on her belated debut at Killarney last month and is another selection for me from the Joseph O’Brien team this Sunday. JP McManus’ filly lost many lengths when slowly out of the stalls before getting herself back into the race and producing an excellent turn of foot to score in very impressive fashion. It looked an above average performance, and she can remain unbeaten before stepping up in class later this season.
She has some high-class entries in the book, including the Group 3 Paddy Power Stakes at Leopardstown on Champions Weekend. Elsewhere, stablemate Vega Magnifico sets the standard on form following success at Navan and his run behind Aikhal in the International Stakes earlier this summer. Jonoobi, Sierra Nevada and Dancila have previously raced forward, so this can be set-up nicely for McDonagh to strike late on what could be smart progressive filly.
