FRANKNESS is from a good family and confirmed the promise of her debut run when opening her account over course and distance at the end of last month. That was in soft ground and she saw the race out strongly, doing all of her best work at the finish, and she should be capable of raising her game further still. This looks an excellent opportunity for her to follow up. Tellus, who had the form of her debut second boosted at York on Thursday, looks the obvious threat.
ALL THE TIME has a speedy pedigree and made all of the running when making a winning debut at Nottingham in June, easily drawing clear from Swingalong who recorded a big career best when winning the Lowther at York on Thursday. Admittedly, All The Time hasn’t progressed as expected since, but this track should suit this pacey sort, and he wasn’t disgraced at Glorious Goodwood last time. Can To Can failed to fire in France recently, but she is the clear main danger judged on her easy Pontefract maiden success.
This doesn’t look a strong race for the grade and German raider, LOFT, may be up to conceding weight all round. He landed a Group 2 in Germany on his return in May and took a big step forward when following up in Belmont Gold Cup Stakes last time. Both of those win were at around two miles, but he arguably faces lesser opposition now, and he should have the pace to deal with this trip. The admirable Rajinsky can also feature again, along with improving three-year-old filly River of Stars.
FOOLS RUSH IN is a likeable type who looks better than ever at present, adding to his two wins here last season when landing a 13-runner course and distance handicap on soft ground 20 days ago. He is now 3 lb higher in the weights and has been handed a wide draw, but he is clearly in top form, loves the course and has the excellent Harry Davies in the saddle again. On A Session, Paws For Thought and Bullace are a trio of potential threats in a competitive handicap.
This looks decidedly open and it may be worth forgiving KING OF TONGA his latest effort at York. He had previously looked better than ever when resuming winning ways over five furlongs at this course in June and that form looks solid enough. He is a three-time winner at this track and generally runs well, so he is worth chancing at the likely odds from the plum draw in stall 1. Roman Dragon, returned to this venue, Sampers Seven and Lullaby Bay are others to consider.

LE BEAU GARCON was a progressive juvenile last year, winning a couple of five-furlong events at Beverley and Redcar, and he ran a cracker when runner-up on his return and handicap debut at Musselburgh in June. He has failed to build on that since, but this does represent a drop in class, and he is drawn well to attack for a yard among the winners. As you would expect, there’s depth to this contest, with So Smart and The Dunkirk Lads feared most.
THE GADGET MAN remains with few miles on the clock and he continues to shape as though he’ll relish the step up to two miles. He ran as well as could be expected over a mile and a half at Lingfield last time, but this test will be much more up his street, and he can take advantage of a slight drop in the weights. He’s preferred to fellow three-year-old Mister Camacho, who should also be suited by a step up in trip, in a wide-open handicap.
