Horse Racing Tips: Thursday cheat sheet from Paddy’s pundits at York’s Ebor Festival

The Karl Burke team have always considered DRAMATISED special and I suspect she will show she’s a cut above this lot. While the Royal Ascot win might not have a lot of substance the daughter of Showcasing scored in some style.

Dramatised is the one to beat. She was so impressive at Royal Ascot that I can’t go against her.

Maria Branwell was going through the grades very smoothly and ran an absolute cracker in the Queen Mary prior to a below par effort at Newbury. She’s been overlooked in the market and is a big each-way shout.

Dramatised and Mawj dominate the betting for the Lowther Stakes, but I think the anticipated battle is more of a mismatch. The performance Dramatised put up to win the Queen Mary was better that Mawj managed in the Albany, and the favourite has been kept back specially for this since. She will improve again for the step up to 6f having kept on powerfully at Ascot.

DRAMATISED was very strong at the finish when supplementing her debut win in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot so there has to be a good chance that 6f trip will unlock even more improvement. 

I’ll risk REDEMPTION TIME each-way as this colt showed blinding speed to lead in his early days but missed the break last time.  I presume has been laid out for this big prize.

Redemption Time is highly regarded by connections and is definitely better than he showed at Royal Ascot.

Redemption Time form as a novice couldn’t have worked out any better with the likes of Noble Style and Royal Scotsman around him. He looks a big player.

Perhaps the speed among the high numbers will be crucial here, but I was impressed with how professional Matching Sox was when winning on his debut at Kempton despite the favourite running waywardly in front of him. Andrew Balding’s debut winners tend to be well above average, and he should improve enough to play a big part in this sales race.

SHOULDVEBEENARING was impressive when opening his account at Ripon in May and has presumably been saved for this valuable contest by a stable that has won 4 of the last 6 runnings of this contest. 

A lot of these are right at the hilt of their handicap marks. That includes CRUYFF TURN who was a good winner at this track in May. A good each-way chance. 

Cruyff Turn is a solid performer and Tim Easterby’s charge is a solid performer on a good handicap mark.

Ouzo was very unlucky not to win two starts back at Sandown and then they completely changed his tactics and tried to go forward and make the running in the golden mile. I’m hopeful with a bit more pace in here he can revert to his hold up tactics. He has winning form here previously for the Hannon team.

When Cruyff Turn won the Clipper Logistics Handicap here a year ago, he made all the running, and he scored again on his only other C&D outing here in May. Draw and trip were against him in the Bunbury Cup last time, but he caught the eye in a big way and can make it 3-3 at the track.

This big-field scenario may suit the strong-travelling TYRRHENIAN SEA so he’s the suggestion as a mark of 105 looks workable based on the form he showed when pushing a next-time-out Group 2 winner close on the all weather in the spring. 

I’d rather Tuesday was running over 1m2f so I have no problem putting up multiple Group 1 winner ALPINISTA. Her wins have been abroad for Sir Marl Prescott and Luke Morris but her success in France last time was decent and she’s clearly very good.

Ballydoyle thought enough of Tuesday to run her in the Irish derby. It didn’t work out but she is smart and could be too good for these fillies.

Alpinista is looking for a remarkable fifth Group 1 on the bounce and the forecasted showers in Yorkshire hold no fears whatsoever.

I thought Alpinista was too big at the current price, and she rates banker material. Given her record against all opposition at Group 1 level in the past year or so, she looks one of the likeliest winners of the week, but is easy to back, perhaps due to a misplaced notion that French and German form is hard to read. I can’t have that, and she’s head and shoulders above her rivals in my eyes.

 the hugely-likeable ALPINISTA selected to make it 7 wins, and 5 Group 1s, in a row back on home soil. She scored in a good time at Saint-Cloud seven weeks ago and can boost her Arc claims with another victory at the top level.

GOLDEN LYRA has done little wrong in three starts and appears a promising type. Stays well.

Golden Lyra was fancied on debut but ran a little green. She then made no mistake at Kempton and can continue that improvement today.

Golden Lyra should arguably be coming in here with the perfect 100% record as her second placing at Newbury was a touch unlucky with the winner getting the run down on the inside.

Voodoo Queen is out of her owner/breeder’s brilliant juvenile Cursory Glance, and the Frankel filly could be underrated given her progress to date. She isn’t certain to stay on pedigree, but kept on well over 1¼m last time, and doesn’t look a short runner.

GOLDEN LYRA gets the verdict to go one better than on her first try at this level and take her tally to 3-4 in the process. Haskoy falls into the ‘could be anything’ category after an impressive seven-length debut success.
