14:05 –  Irish Approach

IRISH APPROACH failed to beat a rival on his debut at Nottingham in June but he left that form well behind when runner-up at the same venue the following month, impressing with how much zest he showed. Irish Approach ran to a similar level when dropping from an extended mile back to seven furlongs at Redcar earlier this month, finishing a close-up third, and those pieces of form are just about the pick on offer here. This looks like a good opportunity for him to get off the mark.

14:40 –  Leading Company

LEADING COMPANY showed improved form to get off the mark in a seven-and-a-half-furlong handicap at Beverley last month and he took another step forward over the same course and distance last Thursday to defy a 4 lb rise with a bit in hand. Leading Company proved strong at the finish as he pulled a length and a half clear of Jim’s Cracker – who reopposes here – and a 6 lb penalty should not be enough to stop him following up, particularly with the step up in trip promising to unlock further improvement.

FANCY WINNING £/10K AT YORK ON WEDNESDAY?

15:15 –  Canaria Prince

CANARIA PRINCE failed to make an impact at Ripon last week but that effort is perhaps best overlooked as he was poorly drawn. He had been in good form prior to that and he shaped well when third at Pontefract on his penultimate start as he fared best of those who raced up with the strong gallop. He appeals as being on a fair mark and can bounce back here.

15:50 – Wobwobwob

WOBWOBWOB has shaped like a well-handicapped horse on a few occasions this season, notably at Thirsk last time when he finished a close-up third but was first home in his group. It’s hard to tell whether Wobwobwob was disadvantaged by going wide into the straight, but he deserves credit for winning the race on his side and he can strike off the same mark here.

16:25 – Yeeeaah

YEEEAAH remains a maiden but he ran up to his best when finishing third at Carlisle last week, not for the first time showing that he’s on a competitive mark. He has been eased 1 lb in the weights and ought to give another good account with Oliver Stammers taking off another 3 lb.

16:56 – Will He Dance

WILL HE DANCE wasn’t at his best when finishing in mid-division at Thirsk on his latest outing but he had been an impressive winner over this course and distance on his previous start and is worth another chance back at this venue. That was a weak classified stakes that Will He Dance won but he got the job done in emphatic fashion and this sort of handicap mark shouldn’t prove beyond him if in similar form.
