Every multiple bet needs an anchor leg and the Charlie Appleby-trained VICTORY DANCE is the one that may get us on the board early. Her form is very strong and she has a fair bit in hand on the ratings with the unbeaten Candle of Hope who is owned by the Queen.

14:10 Newmarket – Atlantis
The Gosden trained and Frankie Dettori combination team up with ATLANTIS who was a very easy winner at Doncaster last time. She certainly looks one to follow but did get hit with a 9lb rise in the weights for that win. The team obviously feel she’s still well handicapped to win at this level.

14:30 Newbury – Zechariah
The first of Paddy’s free to enter Pick 5 races for the chance to win £/€25k. Tom Marquand looks to have a very good book of rides at Newbury and ZECHARIAH trained by Martin Meade ran a hell of a race at Royal Ascot, beaten a nose by Roger Varian’s Eldar Eldarov. This now looks the perfect race for the three-year-old to get back into the winner’s enclosure after a slightly disappointing run last time.
14:50 Ripon – Summerghand
SUMMERGHAND is a real gem of a sprinter and he won in August last year of a mark 9lbs higher than he races off now. He was very unlucky at Goodwood when drawn on the wrong side of the track and didn’t have the clearest of runs either that day when finishing ninth. He also ran a belter at Royal Ascot behind Rohaan in the Wokingham. Jockey Danny Tudhope keeps the faith and Summerghand’s handicap mark makes him very competitive. There’s plenty with chances and Hyperfocus is another who enters the reckoning. This is going to be fast and furious and Summerghand can rattle home with a late flourish.
15:35 Newbury – Chindit
Pat Dobbs gets a great tune out of CHINDIT who is a course and distance winner. He can be forgiven his last run in a Grade One last time when sixth to the mighty Baaeed at Goodwood. That was a step up in grade and is better judged on his win at Ascot last month in a Grade 2 contest similar to this.
