14:10 – Heat And Dust (NAP)

Menin Gate had hinted a revival before the blinkers patently didn’t agree with him at Beverley and, with an easy lead possibly up for grabs, he is feared. However, it was very likely that the unique camber was as much to blame as a career-high mark when HEAT AND DUST (nap) came up short at Epsom and she can be given another chance. Andaleep also comes into it.

14:40 – Song Of Success

With Tessa beginning to look exposed this should be won by either SONG OF SUCCESS or Sassy Belle, both of whom made highly encouraging debuts in respected company at top tracks. The selection perhaps achieved that bit more at Sandown and she has a kinder draw.

15:10 – Rainbow Mirage

A tight sprint handicap. Pepsi Cat and Ischia are the least exposed (and feared in that order) but RAINBOW MIRAGE is having a very solid season and it was a better race in which she was perhaps unlucky not to have been seriously involved in the finish here last time.

15:40 – Second Collection

Just the four runners but trappy. Last year’s winner Lethal Blast is too well handicapped to ignore, Love Trophy Power could be given another chance after losing her Ascot race at the start and Rhubarb is clearly a strong contender even if her improvement has come at Chepstow, which is a very different track to this. SECOND COLLECTION needs to bounce back from her latest disappointment, but she appeared to be coming to hand before then and returning here can only be a good thing.

16:10 – Maximilian Caesar

Dubai Mile (second choice) and Imperial Dream are entitled to find something on their initial efforts but MAXIMILIAN CAESAR won well enough at Yarmouth to believe he could be up to defying a penalty. The three newcomers need checking in the market.

16:40 – Asdaa

Grey Fox and Love Dreams are always dangerous to dismiss at this venue and both are feasibly handicapped, while the 3yo Savrola (second best) should have better days ahead of him. Also of interest is the well-handicapped ASDAA, for whom there was no fluke about his return to winning ways at Pontefract.

17:10 – Al Mahbooba

Plenty of unexposed types looking to progress, particularly the well-bred Lujain. She did everything wrong on her debut here and still showed up well behind a pair destined for better things. Al-Hatab holds a Derby entry, though comes from a stable who rarely rushes their horses, they also handled Zikada Zayin’s siblings so she may prove to be sharper under a different regime. Mayfair looked plenty sharp enough on her debut, however though her stablemate AL MAHBOOBA keeps running into younger improvers, her form with most of these suggests she may have found the right race to finally get off the mark.
