The likes of Opticality, who ran so well behind a well-treated winner on her handicap debut, and Dewey Road, a strong finisher from off the pace for his new yard at Lingfield, provide strong opposition but SANDY PARADISE should be heartened by getting his head in front back on the AW and should have another race in him. Four Feet was going the right way on sand before a turf failure last month and is another to consider despite the highest draw.
Preference is for BORDER EDGE, who ran away from a subsequent winner at Nottingham on his second start and may be capable of taking another step forward. A E Housman may chase him home, while Caph Star and Baltimore Boy are also respected.
Quite straightforward when it comes to drawing up a shortlist, MOON WATCH sits above Okeechobee. The selection is much better drawn and created a really favourable impression when beating the ‘right’ horses, who had had a run or two, on debut at Nottingham.

Animate and New Endeavour (feared most) should both find a race soon but SILVER KNOTT sets the standard and his debut fourth at Newbury can be marked up as he was forced to challenge away from the action on the far side.
Stall 12 isn’t ideal but it was noticeable how well WHITE UMBRELLA travelled when off the mark at Chepstow last time, giving hope she can adopt a reasonable position and strike in her first handicap. There are dangers aplenty with Gidwa shading Penguin Island as the most threatening.
A really interesting novice. ROYAL SCANDAL is a scopey sort who looks set to do well at 1m4f, and she can resume winning ways after coming up short in an unsatisfactory race last time. Love Someone (second choice) could easily improve again while Sea Gifted is feared.
Napper Tandy was soundly beaten at 13-8 last time but that was a messy race and he’s well worth another chance. Preference, however, is for Vanity Affair and STRAWBERRI. Splitting them isn’t easy, and there was little between them at Haydock in June, but Roger Varian’s filly is taken to benefit most from stepping up to 1m4f.
Several of these arrive in good form but none makes as much appeal as MURAU (nap), who confirmed the strong suspicion that 2m would suit when winning well over C&D last time. He looks progressive and can win again at the main expense of Dance To Paris, who remains fairly treated after returning to winning ways at Lingfield on her latest start. Vino Victrix is respected, while Amalfi Bay has it in him to go well at a decent price.
