Although she is by no means bombproof, LAST OF A LEGEND has enough ability to win this if showing her best. Miss Chantelle improved for the step up in trip on her latest start and looks the main danger.

The form of FINISK RIVER’s Uttoxeter second has been franked and, for all that he wasn’t entirely convincing in the finish, he has leading claims if the aids work again. Bucko’s Boy looked good at Newton Abbot on Monday and is next best, ahead of Chasamax, for whom the trip is a concern.

Mr Mafia could prove hard to catch if he’s able to dictate but it’s hard to escape the claims of GOLDEN TAIPAN, who looked better than ever when trying 3m for the first time in his latest win. Neville’s Cross is the pick of the rest.

Long-absent 7yo Time Flies By would be a shoo-in for a maiden hurdle at this time of year but connections are evidently keen to launch his chasing career. If he’s fully tuned up and handles today’s ground, he could be very tough to beat. However, a safer option is probably MORTLACH, who has taken very well to fences this summer and can be excused his recent blip in a competitive handicap.

This might go to SEA PRINCE, who didn’t get home after racing too freely on his recent chasing debut at Worcester but still shaped with significant promise that day, and is 9lb better off with the winner Bob’s Bar here. In the other rematch, Steady The Ship (second choice) may be able to reverse recent Newton Abbot placings with Shareef Star.

Last-time-out winners Cawthorne, George Mallory and Hey Bob (preferred in that order) all warrant consideration but the one with most potential could be BALEARIC, who has made an encouraging start to his hurdling career and, if judged on his Flat form, might be on a good mark for today’s handicap debut. Meanwhile, Pawpaw is very well treated if a recent stable switch has done him good.
