Goodwood 13:50 – Vee Sight

The handicapper initially got VEE SIGHT wrong off a mark of 74 before he won at Sandown. He was eye-catching in his maidens and has gone up 8lbs to a rating of 82 but is a 90+ horse in the making. He’ll take a bit of beating!

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

Goodwood 14:25 – Royal Scotsman

ROYAL SCOTSMAN will take an awful lot of beating. He has the profile for the race and was impressive when winning here second time out and the form is working out really well. He then ran a cracker in the Coventry, I loved the way he went and the form is also working out alright. Al Karrar is a danger.

Goodwood 15:00 – Jack Darcy

The Derby form is mixed and I’d be wanting to take on Hoo Ya Mal. New London was going to be Charlie Appleby’s Derby horse before Chester but I’m not sure there’s much juice in his price. I’m going to take a chance on JACK DARCY each way. He won on debut at Salisbury last year and the form is fair. He followed up under a penalty just three weeks ago at Newbury where he beat Special Envoy, who then won very easily on his handicap debut off 92. I’m not sure Jack Darcy has that much to find.

Galway 15:20 – Imposing Supreme

The draw can have a big bearing and the one I think worth taking a chance on is IMPOSING SUPREME, despite being drawn in 20. He managed to win twice here last year off a mark of 69 over a mile when drawn in 19 and then followed up five days later off a mark of 75 when dropped to seven furlongs. He also won at the 2019 festival off a mark of 68 over a mile and was third behind Casanova in a rated race last September. Of course, Casanova was just touched off in the Colm Quinn BMW Mile on Tuesday. The return to Galway will suit if he can overcome the draw.

Goodwood 15:35 – Ville De Grace

Nashwa sets the standard but she did make hard work of it in the Prix de Diane so I’d be wanting to take her on at the prices. I don’t really rate the Oaks form that highly, either. I’d take a chance on VILLE DE GRACE each way. She won a Listed race at Yarmouth on his first start over this distance last September. She followed up with a Group 3 at Newmarket where she beat Lilac Road before being beaten by a nose by Dreamloper and was far too keen at York last time.

Goodwood 16:10 – Seductive Power

I’m quite keen on SEDUCTIVE POWER. Richard Hannon’s won this twice in the last five years. He was fifth on debut at Newbury but the form has worked out really well. He was fourth at Newbury the next time behind Isaac Shelby, who has won a Group 2 since. Seductive Power then won nicely on his third start at Newbury and the form has been franked. Step up to seven furlongs should suit and a mark of 74 underestimates him.

Galway 16:30 – Falcon Eight

I’d take a chance on FALCON EIGHT. It’s going to be a good race but my pick is a very good stayer on the Flat and has been running well finishing fifth in the Chester Cup and fourth in the Queen Alexandra. He’s won from three over hurdles, despite looking like he’d never seen a hurdle on his debut at Leopardstown in a race won by Journey With Me with Minella Crooner second and Kilcruit in third. He was also unlucky not to win a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse and was finishing strongly.

Goodwood 16:45 – Le Beau Garcon

It’s a very tricky race but I’d give LE BEAU GARCON another chance. He was very unlikely on his handicap reappearance at Musselburgh and ran on strongly into second. He went onto the good three-year-old handicap at Newmarket over six furlongs and I think the trip caught him out. Going back to five will suit, the draw in 14 might not be ideal but I do think he’s well handicapped. He’ll do for me each way!

Galway 17:05 – Celestial Horizon

It’s not the strongest renewal so I’m going to give a chance to CELESTIAL HORIZON, despite four-year-olds not having the best record in the race. He was sixth in last year’s Irish Cesarewitch and took a while to get going over jumps. He was given too much to do on his handicap debut before bolting up at Killarney off a mark of 127 on his next start. He was stepped up to Grade 3 company in the Grimes Hurdle but that was flying a bit high. He’s only rated 136 and I’d be surprised if that doesn’t improve in time. It’s just a question of whether this comes too soon as a four-year-old.
