He has a ‘strange’ profile having raced abroad recently and he put up a great performance on his second try back winning at Sandown in a big field similar to this. Arqoob has only been given a gentle nudge up the ratings by the handicapper and can remain competitive at a double-digit each-way price in early trading. A lot of that may be down to his bad draw in stall 18, but hopefully the Sandown experience can help him overcome that.

14:25 – Mysterious Night
A big, imposing, powerful individual who is definitely going to appreciate the step up to the long sprint distance of 7 furlongs. Mysterious Night was always struggling behind Persian Force last time and only started to make ground under hands and heels riding in the final 100 yards at Newmarket. There is a lot of upside about the Charlie Appleby runner for the future.
15:00 – Lusail
Richard Hannon’s charge hasn’t done much wrong so far this season without managing to get that victory on the board. This 7f trip could prove his ideal distance and I’m hopeful that Lusail won’t have to do the donkey work this time at the front. The cut-away rail will be used at its furthest point down the track for the start of the meeting, so he will definitely get room late on from his inside stall position in box two. Jockey Pat Dobbs can wait and pounce late.

15:35 – Stradivarius
No Frankie Dettori on board but Stradivarius is going for a remarkable fifth victory in this contest. It has been well documented about his unlucky runs a couple of times and Andrea Atzeni can step into this pressure-cooker situation and handle it. He has ridden him to victory before so let’s hope the old boy can raise the roof at Goodwood.
16:10 – Atalis Bay
He ran a solid race at York last time behind the new sprint sensation Royal Acclaim at York. This was despite getting a hefty bump as the stalls opened and then racing very freely on his first start since being gelded, The very speedy nature of this track is going to help Atalis Bay and he can continue his climb back up the sprinting ladder from a reduced mark of 98.

16:45 – Mischief Magic
The ITV coverage ends with a wide-open maiden race with lots of unexposed and inexperienced runners. Mischief Magic can only be a token selection in all honesty, but he did run well on his debut over this course and distance suggesting he has plenty of ability. The form has been boosted since with the winner and second that day running well again.
