Strawman enjoyed a productive campaign last term, winning on three occasions, and he proved better than ever when scoring at Redcar last month, quickening well to lead close home. That form has worked out well – there have been three subsequent winners from the race – and Strawman looks well treated off just 2 lb higher here. He has been beaten twice since, but has had excuses on both occasions and is worth siding with here.
15:30 Corinthia Knight
Corinthia Knight goes particularly well at this venue and his record here stands at four wins from six starts, with one of those victories achieved in this race last season. Corinthia Knight scored over this course and distance last month and has remained in good form since, so he ought to launch another bold bid at a track that clearly plays to his strengths.
16:05 Modern News
Modern News has been a model of consistency this season and can successfully carry a penalty he picked up for winning a listed race at Windsor in May. Modern News has had to settle for second the last twice but he ran creditably when runner-up in a Group 3 at Epsom and then performed right up to his best when beaten a nose in listed company at Windsor last month.

This looks like a good opportunity for Wilkins, who has finished placed on all three starts, to get off the mark at the fourth attempt. Wilkins was no match for two promising rivals at Windsor last time, but he ran creditably in third and could prove difficult to peg back here.
17:15 Canaria Prince
Canaria Prince hit the frame on his first four starts of the season and he gained a deserved victory when getting off the mark at Beverley last week, impressing with how well he travelled before knuckling down to get the verdict by a neck. Canaria Prince ran creditably to finish runner-up in a classified stakes at Hamilton when turned out only two days later, and he looks a big player returning to handicap company off a mark only 3 lb higher than the one he defied.
