13:55 – Never Just A Dream
This doesn’t look like an especially strong maiden by Ascot’s standards so it could be worth siding with well-bred newcomer Never Just A Dream. A £95,000 purchase as a yearling, Never Just A Dream is by No Nay Never and out of six-furlong winner who hails from a smart family, so he makes appeal on pedigree. Never Just A Dream holds plenty of big-race entries and should not be underestimated on debut.

14:30 – Clochette
Clochette was well backed on debut at Newbury and she looked unlucky not to justify that support, meeting trouble just as the winner was pressing on, while she also had to start her effort away from the other principals. Clochette ran on well when in the clear to take second near the finish, clocking a good sectional time in the process, and she can get off the mark at the second attempt.
15:05 – Mostly Cloudy
Mostly Cloudy made it four in a row when successful at Doncaster three weeks ago, knuckling down well to get the verdict by a head. He had to work a lot harder than for his previous wins and this 6 lb higher mark will make life tougher, but he is clearly going in the right direction and receives a handy weight-for-age allowance from his older and more exposed rivals. He can extend his winning run.
15:40 – The Whipmaster
The Whipmaster has returned as an improved model this term and he took his winning sequence to four when successful at Windsor last month, deserving plenty of credit for overcoming a pace bias in a steadily-run race. The way The Whipmaster loomed up before comfortably settling matters showed that he is in the form of his life and this 6 lb higher mark should not put an end to his winning run.

16:15 – Carnival Zain
Carnival Zain is enjoying a productive campaign and he made it three wins for the season when successful at Chester a couple of weeks ago, putting in his best effort yet for this yard. Carnival Zain was well on top at the finish on that occasion, comfortably asserting inside the final furlong, so a 4 lb higher mark does not look harsh. Becky Smith, who was aboard last time, retains the ride and is a good jockey booking in this race for female amateur riders.
16:50 – Al Azhar
Al Azhar wasn’t at his best when only runner-up in a three-horse race at Salisbury last month but that effort can be overlooked as he conceded first run in a contest that developed into a three-furlong sprint. Al Azhar is better judged on what he showed at Newbury the time before. He ran out a convincing winner on that occasion, justifying good support in the process, and he should still have a bit more to offer.

17:25 – Glamorous Breeze
Glamorous Breeze has been in good form this season and finished placed three times in a row before gaining a deserved victory at Chepstow last week. That was not a strong race but Glamorous Breeze scored with a bit in hand, so she should launch another bold bid off the same mark here.
