Ascot on ITV this Saturday with the highlight the King George’s small but select field with the three-year-old classic generation taking on the older horses…

13:50 Ascot – Kinta

George Boughey has had a great season with a classic winner and Kinta has won very nicely on both her starts with a comfy success at Kempton last time. She could just have a bit up her sleeve and is a price taking on the favourite.

14:25 Ascot – Novemba

Peter Schiergen is a brilliant trainer. He has not been afraid to run Novemba in decent races. She finished a good fourth in the Duke of Cambridge at the Royal meeting. The jockey is riding the Arc winner in the King George and is very capable. I think this looks a great race for her.

Ghaiyyath William Buick York

15:00 Ascot – Fresh

James Fanshawe’s Fresh was favourite for the Wokingham and he hasn’t quite delivered. I am willing to take another chance on him. Danny Tudhope has kept the faith and so will I.

He did win over 6f at the track last year. Dark Swift is the obvious one and I nearly took a punt on Aratus who will love the race. He has been too keen and will love the fast pace.

15:35 Ascot – Emily Upjohn

I love the classic generation taking on the older horses. It is a lovely race and the small field is an added plus. Westover won the Irish derby very easily after an unlucky passage in the Epsom Version.

Emily Upjohn is the one I like in here. She was really unlucky not to win the Oaks after a stumble coming out of the stars which definitely cost her her chance of winning. Prior to the Oaks lots of people felt that she should have been running in the Derby anyway. I was blown away by her when she ran at York there is no doubt she is top class and, in receipt of a stone from the older horses, she has to be a player.

Mishriff was very unlucky in the Eclipse and should have won it. He has a new jockey with James Doyle driving today and that has to be factored in as well. Torquator Tasso was very nearly my selection and if there was some rain would definitely be the one I’m just a little worried that he may want a lot softer ground to show his best. Don’t be surprised though if he runs a big race.
