13:20 – We’renotreallyhere
WE’RENOTREALLYHERE showed only greenness on debut at Ripon in May, but came on plenty for that initial experience when beaten half a length in second at Thirsk on his next start, and ran to a similar level in a big-field event at Ayr last time. Those efforts put him top of Timeform weight-adjusted ratings in this contest and he can put his experience to good use to open his account. Highland Mac started at 3/1-on in a poor race at Bath last time, and is another expected to take a step forward now.

13:55 – Liv Lucky
LIV LUCKY showed improved form to belatedly open her account at Hamilton last month and shaped as though still in good form at Brighton on her next start without being seen to best effect. She ran another solid race in defeat back at Hamilton last time, having every chance inside the final furlong but just outpointed. She arrives in top form and is back taking on her elders now so commands respect once again. Mews House and Wade’s Magic usually run in better races than this and head the opposition.
14:30 – Wan’em
This doesn’t look a strong race by any means so it could be worth taking a chance on the Karl Burke-trained newcomer WAN’EM. He is already gelded but his dam is a sister to a smart sprinter and he represents a yard that know how to ready one. The market will reveal more about his chances, but he is the percentage call, ahead of Ray Vonn, who was only mid-division on his recent Newmarket debut, though it came in what will likely turn out to be a strong race.

15:05 – Liangel Hope
Several of these arrive with questions to answer, but LIANGEL HOPE has largely held his form well since winning at Redcar in April, contesting stronger races than this. He drops into claiming company for the first time now and should be competitive on these terms. Tar Heel hinted at a revival when sixth at Wolverhampton and is feared most, although Jackmeister has the form to play a big part if shrugging off a modest effort at Chepstow.
15:40 – Vadamiah
VADAMIAH won back-to-back handicaps over this course and distance in good style earlier this year and she can be excused her defeat back here on her next start where she stumbled at the start which didn’t allow her to dictate matters. She didn’t have any excuses at Haydock last time, but a return to this venue may spark her back into life, and she may prove hard to peg back in this small field. Atiyah could be the one to give her most to do.

16:15 – Heat and Dust
HEAT AND DUST was rejuvenated by a 10-week break when producing a career-best effort to open her account in style at Brighton last week. Admittedly, that was a weak race, but she responded well to the headgear being removed and had plenty in hand at the line. This looks a prime bit of placing by Sir Mark Prescott and she has an excellent chance of following up under a penalty in a race which doesn’t look any stronger. Dandy’s Angel arrives on the back of a couple of creditable seconds so he merits respect, too.
16:50 – Dandys Gold
DANDYS GOLD capitalised on the handicapper’s mercy when striking at Ayr last month and, still feasibly treated up 5 lb, she is taken to follow up here back over seven furlongs. Cases can be made for several of the others, though, not least Liberty Breeze, who belatedly opened her account over course and distance a fortnight ago.
