13:50 – Witham River

WITHAM RIVER can be expected to appreciate dropping back in trip here having contested handicaps at around two miles the last twice, for some reason or another below his best at York last time, but he is expected to bounce back now, and he earns the vote in a trappy-looking contest. Well Planted has slipped to a dangerous mark and will be a danger to all if on-song, but he was well down the field over hurdles on Saturday.

14:25 – Pjanoo

PJANOO made a promising start to his career when chasing home subsequent Group 2 scorer Isaac Shelby in a Newbury maiden in May and, with improvement almost certain now, he will prove hard to beat in what looks a very winnable contest. Feel The Need shaped well on his introduction over this course and distance a fortnight ago and he could be the one for the forecast.

15:00 – Kilconquhar

KILCONQUHAR shaped quite well at Hamilton last time, turning in his best effort of the season, and could be the way to go in what doesn’t look the deepest handicap if building on that having been kept on the same mark. Classy Al will be a threat if in anything like the same form as when scoring over course and distance a fortnight ago, although consistency hasn’t proved his strong suit so far.

15:35 – Audit

AUDIT shaped quite well at Catterick recently, producing a career-best effort on his first try at this trip, not getting the clearest passage close home, and he is well up to winning a race of this nature with a similar performance. The unexposed Thunderhill made a solid start to his handicap career when a close fourth at Redcar and has the potential to build on that, so he is feared most.

16:10 – Quest For Fun

The form of the Thirsk handicap in which QUEST FOR FUN opened his account last month is strong, and he followed up over this course and distance a fortnight ago when overhauling Aberama Gold close home after conceding first run. There should be more to come from this unexposed four-year-old and he is taken to complete a hat-trick. Call Me Ginger, Summer Sands and Black Friday were also adrift that day and Call Me Ginger could be the one to pose the greatest threat this time.

16:45 – Brazen Bolt

BRAZEN BOLT has developed into a reliable performer and having not been seen to anything like best effect when first home in the unfavoured group at York nine days ago he is a horse to keep on the right side in a race which doesn’t appear to have the same depth. Diamondonthehill, who bounced back to form at Thirsk recently, is a threat, as is Golden Apollo who was only one place behind the selection at York.

17:15 – Under Fox

UNDER FOX proved a different proposition equipped with blinkers last season, winning twice prior to signing off with a smashing second at Pontefract on his final start. Performing with credit in defeat so far this term, he could prove a tough nut to crack if ridden more positively in a race which hasn’t got much pace in it on paper. Yaaser is thriving at present and along with Diamond Haze, heads up the dangers.
