HILLVIEW is a most progressive sort and can defy another rise in the weights to gain his sixth win from his last 8 starts. Aye Aye Charlie was back to form over fences last time and can fight it out for second place with the veteran Ennistown.

SALLEY GARDENS translated his hurdling improvement to fences when a tidy winner on his first chase start and further progress looks likely for Olly Murphy’s six-year-old. Etat Major Aulmes is a serious threat in his bid for a hat-trick, with Cawthorne Lad best of the rest.

 

13:00 – Sarjeant Painter

SERJEANT PAINTER has been a bit of a revelation since switched to fences and can extend his unbeaten record in this sphere to 3. Cremant is preferred to recent Perth scorer Cardboard Gangster for the forecast spot.

13:30 – Elios D’or

ELIOS D’OR has looked as good as ever on his last 2 starts, returning to form with success at Ludlow before going like the best horse at the weights when collared only close home at Worcester, He can get the better of Larch Hill, who is worth forgiving his latest run here given his C&D win on his penultimate outing, while Mick Pastor is an interesting contender after 3 months off.

13:59 – Sophosc

Preference is for SOPHOSC, who was value for more than the winning margin at Plumpton on his hurdling debut having been badly hampered 2 out. He has since gone on to score on the Flat so can continue his good run of form and make it 2 from 2 over hurdles. It’s hard to dismiss any of the quartet though, with the hat-trick seeking Pop The Champagne feared most ahead of Rafiki.

14:30 – Rebel Roxy

This looks wide open and with that in mind it could be worth siding with a handicap debutante in the shape of REBEL ROXY. She showed ability in bumpers/over hurdles during the second half of last year and it would come as no surprise to see improvement forthcoming on return for her in-form yard. Malina Ocarina and Call The Fairies are others to consider.

15:05 – Mairie’s Dream

MAIRIE’S DREAM is out of a winning hurdler and represents a stable with a good record in bumpers, so she gets the marginal vote to make a winning start, with Southwell debut winner Queens Highway regarded as the main danger. Horizon Dove is also one to consider on debut for Laura Morgan.
