14:05 – Optician

OPTICIAN is bred to be useful – his dam won at Group 3 level and has produced six winners – and he showed plenty to work with when finishing fourth on debut here last month. Optician understandably showed signs of inexperience at the first attempt, but he kept on pleasingly and ought to be sharper with that run under his belt.

14:40 – Venetian

This looks like a good opportunity for VENETIAN who made a promising start to his career when finishing runner-up at Lingfield last month. Venetian was unable to reward good support on debut but he pulled four and a half lengths clear of the third, and the form he showed there marks him out as the one to beat. He sets a good standard.

15:15 – Time To Parley

TIME TO PARLEY made little impact in three starts in maidens/novice company but she shaped with promise when third on her handicap debut at Ayr on Monday. Time To Parley was beaten less than two lengths and offered enough to suggest she’s up to winning off this lowly mark. She is certainly bred to be better than a mark of 58 – she is out of a Group 3 winner – and there could be a bit more to come.

15:50 – Encourageable

ENCOURAGEABLE struggled when pitched into listed company at Sandown last time but he created a good impression when winning at Wolverhampton the time before and is worth siding with on handicap debut. Encourageable was a promising second on his debut at Doncaster in March and he built on that to score at Wolverhampton the following month, showing a good attitude to get the verdict. An opening mark of 86 looks fair based on that Wolverhampton effort and he remains capable of better after only three starts.

16:25 – Mac Ailey

MAC AILEY turned in his best effort of the season when third at Carlisle a couple of weeks ago, sticking to his task well after being headed over a furlong out. He is able to race off the same mark here, which means he remains 1 lb below his last winning mark. He ought to launch another bold bid.

16:55 – Regular Income

REGULAR INCOME was below his best on his return at Beverley a couple of weeks ago, but he was entitled to need that run and he is presented with a good opportunity here. He would prove difficult to beat in this grade if running to a similar level as when successful in a mile-and-a-quarter handicap at Nottingham last season.

17:25 – Red Force One

RED FORCE ONE was rewarded for his consistency when scoring at Musselburgh a few weeks ago and he can follow up here. A 3 lb rise in the weights will make things tougher for Red Force One but his reliability is an asset and he should be at a tactical advantage here on the front end.  #
