Emily Upjohn’s travel issues means Magical Lagoon is the new favourite to win the Irish Oaks, but does she get the backing of Paddy’s pundits?
Epsom Oaks runner-up Emily Upjohn was set to face seven rivals in Saturday’s 3.45pm at the Curragh, but the plane set to take her across the Irish Sea was unable to take off from Stansted Airport due to a bird strike so the betting market has been shaken up.
NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?
Royal Ascot winner Magical Lagoon appears to have the best form in the book of the seven runners set to go to post, although Aidan O’Brien has three chances as the Ballydoyle master seeks a record-extending seventh victory in the race.
We’ve tasked our horse racing experts to give us their best bets for the Irish Oaks and you can find their fancies below.

Irish Oaks tips
Rory Delargy: I’m giving CAIRDE GO DEO a chance on the basis that there’s no out and out frontrunner in the race. She’s not regularly a frontrunner but she did make all to win at Leopardstown last time out. If she does that again, she has a chance.
Ruby Walsh: I’d side with HISTORY for Aidan O’Brien. There’s not a major reason for picking her over Magical Lagoon apart from Aidan’s runners always showing big improvement.
