13:50 – Jungle Fever
JUNGLE FEVER shaped as if in need of the run on his debut at Musselburgh and he duly showed improved form to score at Brighton, never looking like getting caught after travelling fluently at the head of affairs and quickening clear approaching the final furlong. Jungle Fever was out of his depth in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot last time but it would be little surprise were he to bounce back in this lesser event. He remains with potential now sent handicapping for the first time.

14:20 – Peachey Carnehan
PEACHEY CARNEHAN turned in his best effort of the season when successful over this course and distance in May, relishing a strong pace and the stiff uphill finish as he forged three and three-quarter lengths clear. Peachey Carnehan failed to repeat that form on two subsequent starts at Carlisle and Doncaster but he was by no means disgraced on either outing, leaving the impression that he remains in decent heart, and he is of interest back at a course that clearly plays to his strengths.
14:50 – Jean Baptiste
JEAN BAPTISTE had run creditably when finishing runner-up at Newcastle and a close-up fourth at Redcar and he built on that to score at Chester last month. Jean Baptiste impressed with how well he travelled through that contest and he always looked like scoring after quickening clear over a furlong out. He was closed down by the runner-up close home so the winning margin was only half a length, but the third was a further three and a half lengths back, so a 2 lb rise in the weights could be lenient. He ought to give another good account.
15:20 – Wickywickywheels
WICKYWICKYWHEELS did well to score over this course and distance in May, impressing with how quickly she picked up when in the clear to register a cosy one-length success. She wasn’t quite at the same level when beaten on her next couple of outings but she got back on the up at Hamilton on Saturday, landing a 13-furlong handicap with more in hand than the margin of a neck would suggest. Wickywickywheels did well to come from the rear in a steadily-run race, clocking an impressive sectional time, and she can defy a 5 lb penalty.

15:50 – Shawnee Warrior
This looks like a straightforward opportunity for SHAWNEE WARRIOR who won at Chepstow last month and is up to defying a penalty. Shawnee Warrior shaped very well when finishing third at Wetherby on debut and he built on that to get off the mark at Chepstow, staying on well inside the final furlong to score by a neck. That is comfortably the best form on offer and he is entitled to carry on improving, so he should be difficult to beat.

16:20 – Trust Bertie
TRUST BERTIE stayed on well when third in a five-furlong handicap at Pontefract last week and he should benefit from stepping back up to six furlongs here. Trust Bertie shaped like capable of defying this mark when placed in a six-furlong handicap at Redcar on his previous start and this stiff finish ought to play to his strengths.
16:50 – Stroxx
STROXX remains a maiden after 23 starts but he turned in his best effort of the season when a close-up third at Musselburgh last month. Stroxx was beaten only a neck and half a length in that classified stakes and he is entitled to plenty of respect based on that form. If the application of a visor for the first time can eke out a bit of improvement Stroxx should be able to belatedly open his account.
