WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

13:50 – Lord Sam’s Castle

Shaped with plenty of encouragement when finding one too good on his debut at Hamilton last month, coming off the bridle before most of his rivals but sticking to his well to pass the post just a neck behind the winner. That form puts LORD SAM’S CASTLE right in the mix here and he is likely to have more to offer with the experience under his belt. In an open-looking maiden, Lord Sam’s Castle shades the vote to get off the mark at the second attempt.

14:25 – Giselles Izzy

Caught the eye when filling the runner-up spot over this course and distance last week, keeping on well under a hands-and-heels ride to be beaten just half a length. GISELLES IZZY can line up from the same mark today and there should be more to come from her after just two starts for the Iain Jardine stable. She is still a maiden after eight runs but looks the type her new trainer will be getting wins out of sooner rather than later.

15:00 – Viva Voce

VIVA VOCE shaped well when third over this course and distance last time, passing the post less than three lengths behind the winner despite the steady gallop being against him. He is 1 lb lower in the weights today and it will be no surprise if he strips fitter with that first run for four months under his belt. This also represents a drop in grade for Viva Voce, so he certainly has plenty going for him if getting more pace to aim at.

15:35 – Flying Moon

FLYING MOON is clearly in the form of his life at the moment after winning his last three starts over this course and distance. The official winning margin last time was just a short head, but he was arguably value for extra after conceding first run to the runner-up, showing a good attitude to get on top in the final strides. He remains potentially well treated under a 5 lb penalty and a fourth win in a row could be on the cards if running up to his best after just seven days off.

16:05 – Final Account

Produced his best effort of the season when third at this course last week, FINAL ACCOUNT only weakened late on having held every chance with a furlong to run. He was beaten just a length and that was certainly a big step in the right direction after a few lacklustre runs previously this year. It’s surely only a matter of time before he takes advantage of his much-reduced mark and the way he shaped last time suggests the drop back to five furlongs today could be just the ticket.

16:35 – Shine On Brendan

SHINE ON BRENDAN made it three wins from his last four starts with a likeable performance at Musselburgh two weeks ago, staying on strongly to get the verdict by a neck. That appeals as solid form and a BHA mark of 62 still looks workable judged on his recent progress. In a race where plenty of his rivals have questions to answer, Shine On Brendan stands out as by far the most likely winner if continuing in the same rich vein of form.
