13:45 – Enki Flacke
This doesn’t look a strong race by any means and it represents an excellent opportunity for ENKI FLACKE to record a fourth course win. He has won a couple of race over hurdles at two and a half miles at this track on his last two starts and he should have the pace to cope with this shorter trip against these rivals. Simple Star has shown a fair level of ability on the Flat and could be the one to follow Gordon Elliott’s charge home on hurdling debut.
14:20 – Fiston Du Mou
FISTON DU MOU has quickly found his feet since coming over from Ireland and can land a second course and distance win of the summer under Becky Smith. He looked to be in trouble at halfway at Hexham last time, but he rallied well in the closing stages to finish second, and he should remain competitive back in handicap company. Hermann Clermont, who jumps back up significantly in trip having run over 2m here last time, hasn’t been with the Gordon Elliott yard for too long and could be the one to give the selection most to think about.
14:55 – Gonfalonier
GONFALONIER was tighter in the betting and left his previous efforts over hurdles behind when opening his account on just his second start for Nicky Richards over course and distance last time. He travelled smoothly throughout the race and easily drew clear in the closing stages, winning with plenty in hand, and he could have even more to offer now. A subsequent 10 lb rise seems fair and another bold bid is expected. Keepthefaithinme fits a similar mould as an upwardly-mobile recent course and distance winner, and he’s the obvious danger.

15:30 – Planned Paradise
Despite some indifferent jumping, PLANNED PARADISE impressed with his strength at the finish when defeating a next-time-out winner at Worcester three weeks ago, and he looks a sound player from an 8 lb higher mark provided his jumping becomes more polished. Quantum Realm and Floating Rock similarly arrive on the back of last-time-out victories and may give him the most to think about.
16:05 – Miss Amelia
MISS AMELIA stepped up on her comeback run when resuming winning ways over fences at Carlisle in April and ran a big career best when runner-up at Hexham on her next start, coming well clear with an unexposed sort. She wasn’t in the same form back over hurdles last time, running to just a modest level, but she appeals as still being well treated now back over fences and in a handicap. Lucky Flight arrives in pursuit of a hat-trick and may prove the biggest danger.

16:40 – Bon Retour
BON RETOUR was seemingly ridden with an eye to the future when a never-dangerous fifth at Market Rasen last month and, with her mark sliding further as a result, a chance is taken on Nicky Richards’ charge adding to her sole career success stepped back up in trip. Glen Ava is sure to be popular having notched a couple of recent course and distance wins but a 7 lb rise makes things tougher so No Fixed Charges is put forward as the main danger.
17:15 – Maifalki
MAIFALKI has made a bright start over hurdles for his new yard, again finding only a Gordon Elliott rival too strong in a course and distance maiden recently, and he could be the way to go now having his first foray in handicaps from what looks a fair mark. Copper Fox, who scored at Uttoxeter recently, may emerge as the chief threat.
