13:45 York – Garden Oasis

Tim Easterby’s runner has been lucky on a few occasions recently but has a good level of form in this grade and has slipped down to a very attractive handicap mark. All the others look as if they need a career-best to win but GARDEN OASIS just has to repeat what he’s done to get a slice of the pie at a nice each-way price.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

14:05 Newmarket – Miss Carol Ann

She has been keeping better company than the red-hot favourite Kidwah and will appreciate dropping back down in grade having been highly tried since her debut success. The Roger Varian yard could not be in any better form either and MISS CAROL ANN is a player.

14:20 York – John Leeper

This 1m 6f contest could prove very tactical with just the three runners but Thunderous should hopefully set a decent pace. I think Without A Fight is suspect at the distance in a strongly-run race and JOHN LEEPER can comprehensively turn around the form when beaten by him last month, in a more strongly-run race.

14:40 Newmarket – New Kingdom

Another one of the well-bred runners from this powerful Charlie Appleby outfit to be gelded in the hope that it brings about the required improvement. NEW KINGDOM could be over-priced from an each- way perspective in this line-up. Represents massive value at double-digit odds with Paddy.

15:00 Ascot – Alligator Alley

He has threatened to get his head back in front for the new yard since switching to David O’Meara and this looks an ideal opportunity under his ideal perfect fast ground with a ‘good pace to run at’ conditions. A tongue tie will help his breathing and ALLIGATOR ALLEY rates a big each-way player with Paddy giving us extra places.

15:15 Newmarket – Victory Dance

Looked really good over course and distance when winning on racecourse debut as the leader looked uncatchable. However, VICTORY DANCE powered home through the final furlong to win going away by a short margin. He can only improve and will serve it up to the northern raider, Lion of War.

15:35 Ascot – My Oberon

William Haggas’s runner keeps on finding a way to win and has a tremendous battling attitude as shown at Newcastle and Windsor recently. With Mustasaabeq a suspect stayer who will be coming up for air at the furlong marker, MY OBERON should be starting to power through the line.

15:50 Newmarket – Jumby

A regular in all of these top heritage handicaps and has the services of the excellent Christophe Soumillon on board. He’s only ever run over this 7f distance three times, winning twice. It should set up perfectly for JUMBY‘s late run.

16:05 York – First View

He has just managed to sneak in to the bottom of the weights with a 5lb penalty for winning at Leicester last time. FIRST VIEW looked very strong at the line and is guaranteed to appreciate the step up in distance to 1m 2f. He looks a crazy price for an unexposed, well-bred individual. He’s definitely flying under the radar.

16:25 Newmarket – Naval Crown

Remarkably, NAVAL CROWN was only having his second try at the 6f distance when winning in Group One Jubilee Stakes at the Royal meeting. He was one of nine runners who stayed towards the stand rail and the closest on his side was back in 14th at the finishing line! The older brigade may prove too strong this year.

16:40 York – Cattura

Clive Cox’s runner has put up two excellent runs the last twice going close at Haydock and then an unlucky effort at Sandown last time. The form has been boosted with the winner going close since. CATTURA is a classy enough individual in his own right and is only the price he is because Winter Power is taking a significant drop in grade. However, she hasn’t been at the races with her last two performances.
