14:15 – Dayyan

Far Shot was beaten a long way in the Windsor Castle but, with his potential to prove that running all wrong, he’s dangerous to dismiss. Blatant (second choice) can be forgiven his Epsom run and should go well, but DAYYAN is interesting off the lowest mark. He wasn’t out of place in a red-hot novice on his final visit here and there are reasons to forgive and forget his Goodwood run.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

14:50 – First Officer

It has taken longer than expected for FIRST OFFICER to fulfil the promise of his eyecatching Newmarket debut in October but he’s getting there now. With more luck in running, Teumessias Fox could easily have hit the frame in one of the big 1m4f handicaps here last month and he’s feared most, with Soulcombe sure to encounter very different conditions as when showing his face for the first time at Haydock.

15:25 – Royal Rift

There is probably still plenty of improvement left in Bling On The Music who now makes his handicap debut, while the drop in trip and application of a hood could be to the benefit of Cosmic Desert. However, six of the last eight winners of this race (including the last four) had been successful in their previous start and there was plenty to like about the way ROYAL RIFT went about it when making a successful return at Newmarket three weeks ago. He therefore gets the vote. Two Tempting should be suited by the return to this trip and looks best of the others.

16:00 – Swoon

This is competitive with none of the eight entirely dismissed. The suggestion is SWOON, who gave notice that there could be further improvement forthcoming when third in a good race at Doncaster. Hello Jumeirah doesn’t look overburdened for her first handicap and don’t dismiss Crema Inglesa nor Topanticipation, who are both likeable types in a good place right now.

16:36 – First Ruler

Second choice Surrey Mist brings the most appealing form credentials after holding his own in two of the strongest 3yo handicaps run all season. However, Sea The Casper has really impressed with the start he’s made and then there’s FIRST RULER. The selection was probably beaten by a very good prospect at Newmarket and his breeding would suggest he can only go one way over today’s extra yardage.

17:11 – Tanmawwy

A competitive event in which most of the field come here in good form. Lucky Man ran a cracker at York last month and will be a danger to all if in the same form but the 4yos Emperor Spirit and TANMAWWY (nap) are far from exposed and may fight out the finish. Preference is for Tanmawwy, who is 3-3 over the trip and who still looked in top form despite finishing down the field over 7f at Royal Ascot last time.

17:45 – Grey Fox

Despite being 7lb higher than when winning this last year and now with a different yard, Global Esteem is still respected with the same rider aboard, while the consistent Mark Of Respect seems sure to run his race and has to be considered. However, the vote goes to GREY FOX who should find the conditions ideal provided the ground stays quick, while the form of his Windsor success has been franked. His latest effort can be safely ignored.
