Horse Racing tips: Rory Delargy’s sweet selections for ITV Racing on Friday

Rory likes Uber Cool in the 15:00 at Newmarket at a tasty each-way price on day two of the July Festival.

13:50 Newmarket – New London

New London is the horse to be with. He’s got a very good draw in stall one and in recent years, stall one has finished first or second three times. He didn’t run appallingly at Chester but he didn’t look too happy running around the bends. New London’s form is solid enough for me and he’s already won twice at Newmarket. His biggest threat could be his stablemate Natural World instead of Yonafis. I’ll stick with William Buick and Charlie Appleby.

14:05 York – Strawman

Strawman might be the one to beat for Gemma Tutty, with Connor Beasley on board. He won at Redcar in June and that form has held up pretty well. He finished sixth at Carlisle last time out but he had a bad draw so you could maybe excuse that run.

14:25 Newmarket – Maylandsea

I don’t think Maylandsea will have any problems with the trip after the way she shaped up in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot. It’s hard to say the same for Mawj. Maylandsea has a speedy pedigree and she ran into a superstar in Dramatised at Ascot. Her form holds up better than Mawj’s. This race might come too soon for Ralph Beckett’s Lezoo, who ran a couple of weeks ago.

14:40 York – Flotus

I’m not going to abandon Flotus, who I backed at around 50/1 at Royal Ascot. She ran a cracker in the Commonwealth Cup at Ascot but her second at Haydock before that was also impressive. Flotus will be extremely hard to beat!

15:00 Newmarket – Uber Cool (each-way)

I’m not anti Candleford but I don’t see too much value there at the current price. I like Uber Cool for David Egan and Jane Chapple-Hyam, who’s a much bigger price. Jane is an underrated trainer and she impressed at Royal Ascot. She gets results out of her runners. Uber Cool finished second at Ascot last season and he had a solid run on turf after that. He then went on the all-weather and disappointed but his form on that is terrible. He’s well handicapped, he’s fresh and he’s overpriced at an each-way price.

15:35 Newmarket – Inspiral/Sandrine Forecast

Inspiral looks unbeatable and no one else wanted to turn up for this. I’m therefore looking at who will finish second in terms of the forecast. I’m struggling to work out why Prosperous Voyage was so poor at Royal Ascot. Sandrine finished fifth in the 1000 Guineas and ran well that day. She then finished seventh behind Inspiral last time out but she could have finished higher if a couple of things had gone her way. I’d side with Sandrine to chase Inspiral home, however, you can make a point for Prosperous Voyage if you fancy her to bounce back.

14:05 York – Strawman
14:25 Newmarket – Maylandsea
