17:10 – Spangled Mac
SPANGLED MAC was well backed to make a winning debut at Bath in May up against some moderate opposition and has run to a similar level on both starts since, staying on well in the closing stages. That was over six furlongs, but he should relish this step up in trip, while this more galloping track will also suit better. Brunel Charm can usually be relied upon to run his race on an artificial surface and is feared most.

17:45 – Kinta
KINTA was a 110,000 guineas purchase at the Breeze-Ups earlier this year and was well backed to make a winning debut at Lingfield last month, showing signs of greenness but the penny dropped in time for her to run out a cosy winner. That wasn’t a great race but there was plenty to like about the manner of her success and she should be up to defying a penalty. Apache Spark couldn’t justify her position at the head of market on debut but is evidently thought capable of better and Frankie Dettori takes over in the saddle this evening.
18:15 – Golden Lyra
GOLDEN LYRA beat subsequent Oaks third and Prix de Diane winner Nashwa on debut at Newmarket last year and surpassed that form when finishing runner-up on her return in a listed event on her return at Newbury last month. She was unable to justify favouritism but that was still a promising effort and she should have no problem resuming winning ways back down in class. River of Stars also possesses her fair share of ability but may have to settle for second again.
18:45 – Master Milliner
MASTER MILLINER is a useful stayer who ran a cracker when runner-up in a handicap at York in May, but was flying too high in the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot last time and shouldn’t be judged too harshly on that performance. The return to two miles and handicap company should help and he has leading apprentice Harry Davies taking off an invaluable 5 lb. Moliwood has been freshened up since a disappointing run on turf two months ago and his good all-weather record affords him respect.

19:20 – Anatomic
ANATOMIC has a smart pedigree and built on the promise of his debut effort when opening his account at Wolverhampton in a back-end maiden last year. He wasn’t in the same form when trying to defy a penalty at Chelmsford on his final start, but has been gelded since, and he is the type to do better as a three-year-old now handicapping. This mark shouldn’t prove beyond him and he is bred to appreciate this step up in trip. They Don’t Know probably found the race at Newbury coming too soon last time and better is expected now.
19:50 – Little Raven
LITTLE RAVEN can boast a positive record on the all-weather, winning three times at Newcastle and Wolverhampton, but wasn’t in the same form when attempting to defy a penalty on his turf debut at Leicester last time. He lost his action on that occasion and was eased soon after, so is well worth another chance to get back on the up returned to an artificial surface. Rosie’s Girl is proving reliable and can hit the frame again.

20:20 – One Step Beyond
ONE STEP BEYOND justified strong support when opening his account for this yard in a classified race at Lingfield last month and he was once again well backed when following up in a similar event two days later at Wolverhampton. He wasn’t fazed by a drop back to seven furlongs that day, but the return to a mile will be no problem either, and he looks on a fair mark back in handicap company in pursuit of a hat-trick. Gigi’s Beach and Magical Dragon filled the first couple of spots in a Lingfield handicap last month and rate the main dangers.
20:50 – Adelisa
It will be interesting to see which way Irish import ADELISA goes in the betting on debut for new connections. She wasn’t beaten too far at Dundalk on her final start for Ronald O’Leary when last seen in April, and will have every chance off this reduced mark if the change of scenery has had a positive effect for a yard that do well with new recruits. Boasty arrives here in good form, which is more than can be said for many of his rivals, and he is feared most.
