WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

13:50 – Rocket Rodney

The one to beat is ROCKET RODNEY on account of his close second in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot a fortnight ago. Bakeel was only fifth in the Norfolk at the Royal meeting but could have more to offer and is second choice ahead of Remarkable Force, who is better than he showed in the Coventry.

14:20 – Coltrane

The 4yo filly Alerta Roja holds leading form claims in view of her second to Stradivarius in last September’s Group 2 Doncaster Cup but this is her first run since October and preference is for rising staying star COLTRANE. He won the Ascot Stakes last time out and is the type to keep on improving now that things have clicked. Rodrigo Diaz was third in the Group 3 Henry II Stakes over C&D last time and is a solid contender, but the main threat to the selection could come from Not So Sleepy, who has something to find but may have the sizeable benefit of an uncontested lead.

14:55 – Stormbuster

The Andrew Balding-trained STORMBUSTER is a brother to Juddmonte International winner Arabian Queen and is taken to get off the mark on the back of a promising debut third at Newbury. One Nation was runner-up over C&D on his second start and is a danger, but a bigger threat may come from the newcomer Omniking who cost 300,000gns at the breeze-ups in April. Grand Central and The Parent are other interesting debutants.

15:30 – Golden Voice

There is a temptation to go with the front-runner Autumn Festival as he may enjoy an uncontested lead, but Tom Marquand and GOLDEN VOICE sat close to the pace when winning over C&D last time so there can be optimism they won’t be at a tactical disadvantage. This improving gelding is taken to follow up for William Haggas. Cases can also be made for Galiac, Lethal Nymph and Cabinet Of Clowns.

16:05 – Addeybb (NAP)

It’s possible the highly admirable 8yo ADDEYBB (nap) isn’t the force of old, but this four-time Group 1 winner doesn’t need to be to win this, and he was an encouraging third in a C&D Group 3 on his reappearance. Harrovian (third), Regal Reality (fourth) and Foxes Tales (sixth) are closely matched on their Royal Ascot clash and perhaps Regal Reality will be the main danger back at a course where he has a good record. Passion And Glory is another who could run well.

16:38 – Happy

An interesting little handicap featuring the unexposed Duke Of Verona and the thriving 8yo High Wells, but the consistent HAPPY may benefit from an uncontested lead and earns the vote. Duke Of Verona is second choice.

17:08 – Maysong

The promising Fern O’Brien may be able to coax a win out of MAYSONG, who has a poor strike-rate but arrives in fine form having been second on his last three starts. The unexposed Bath winner Monaajez is second choice, ahead of Voltaic who drops back down to a more suitable trip. King’s Castle and Bonus are respected despite 1m perhaps not being ideal, while Zlatan won this last year and isn’t ruled out.
