The shortlist is headed by the two runners who are fitted with first-time cheekpieces, namely HAVAGOMECCA and Coley’s Koko. The former ran well last month and holds strong claims with William Buick booked, while the latter is well handicapped back at her ideal distance. Elegant Erin has shot up the weights this season but remains unbeaten over 5f and has to be feared despite a career-high mark.
14:45 – Secret Angel
Changing Colours has a bit to prove back on forecast faster ground, having gained his Haydock win on soft, but he’s still strongly respected for the powerful Appleby/Buick combination. In receipt of 9lb from that rival, the fillies SECRET ANGEL and Shandy Star are interesting contenders for owner Nick Bradley and his associates. Honour Your Dreams needs improvement to defy his 4lb penalty.
15:15 – Karratha
Wagga Wagga, Gibside and Casi Crudo are major contenders on form, in that order of preference. A few others may well improve for the step up to 1m4f, notably the ex-Irish KARRATHA who looks interesting off an opening mark of 54 on her debut for Richard Fahey.

Thrice-raced WESTERN STARS takes on in-form rivals but he’s easily the least exposed contestant and looks the type to do well in handicaps. He is first choice ahead of Carnival Zain, who has solid claims on 2022 evidence. Last-time-out winners Visibility and Grifter are respected.
16:15 – Commandment
The fillies COMMANDMENT and Kentucky Rose are taken to fill the first two places, in that order. Commandment has a very solid chance on the back of her good effort at Newmarket, while Kentucky Rose is interesting on her C&D form in April. The three geldings can’t be dismissed in a tight race on the figures.

16:45 – True Mason
Having regained the winning thread in a competitive field at Doncaster on his debut for Declan Carroll, TRUE MASON (nap) could well follow up. He has evidently settled in nicely to his new yard and remains well handicapped on lots of form. Multiple C&D winners Round The Island (second choice) and Mr Orange may prove the main dangers, along with in-form maiden Stalingrad.
