17:45 – Barging thru

Preference is for Archie Watson’s lightly raced 3yo BARGING THRU, who made it 2-3 on AW when holding off a Godolphin improver at Wolverhampton and a 4lb rise for that success looks fair. Second choice is Brunel Charm, who has form figures of 3323222 on AW since October and went close off the same mark on Polytrack last time. Recent Kempton winner Dayman has a similar profile to the selection and he’s another key player, along with Thursday’s Newmarket scorer Leap Abroad.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

18:15 – Power On

The most striking contender is four-time AW winner POWER ON, who went close at Yarmouth last time and is only 1lb higher on this return to Polytrack. Patontheback had a near miss over C&D on his penultimate run and he’s feared most back at this track on his first run after wind surgery. Another to keep an eye on is Power Generation, who is on a reduced mark and had an excuse when well backed at Brighton last time.

18:45 – Daytona Lady

Lady Hollywood faded at Nottingham but a switch to positive tactics may have backfired and she’s a key player if she can recapture the form of her near miss at Catterick. Another twice-raced filly Kimnkate also looks interesting on her debut second, while George Boughey’s striking newcomer Mrs U S A needs watching in the market. However, the vote goes to Chelmsford winner DAYTONA LADY, who made a bold bid when runner-up at Newcastle last time and that form was boosted when the winner wasn’t beaten far in the Albany at Royal Ascot last week.

19:15 – Income

This can go to course winner INCOME, who resumed her progress when beating a clear second off 4lb lower at Newmarket last week and is a big player again back at this track. The main danger is Nordic Glory, who has recorded all three of his wins at this track and was a close third off today’s mark at Goodwood last Friday. The other one on the shortlist is dual C&D winner Mick’s Spirit, who was runner-up here on his last outing.

19:45 – Stormbreaker

Ocean Ruler (second choice) got back on track with a creditable second here last Saturday and he’s respected back up in trip. Rampoldi Plan and Gold Charm should be in the mix again, while the handicap newcomers Bondi Man and New Year Honours are possible improvers on their step up to 1m4f. However, the vote goes STORMBREAKER, who kicked off his handicap career with a strong-finishing win at Salisbury last month and has plenty of scope for further progress.

20:15 – Just A Tad

This looks a golden opportunity from the William Haggas-trained JUST A TAD, who has been consistent in her four starts at up to 1m2f and sets the standard in this weak novice event. The pick of the opposition is Astrobrio.

20:45 – Seal Of Solomon

Sun Festival has finished runner-up in Polytrack handicaps in his last two starts and should make another bold bid but preference is for SEAL OF SOLOMON (nap), who has been a big improver since switched to handicaps in his last two runs and never looked in any real danger after kicking clear over C&D last time. Others who could be dangerous are Morani Kali and Night Eagle.
