WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
17:16 – Shuv H’Penny King
A tricky opener in which it may pay to side with SHUV H’PENNY KING. He’s fallen below his last winning mark, and left the impression he would come on for his first run for three months at Lingfield last time, so partnered by crack apprentice Benoit de la Sayette, he makes most appeal. Legende d’Art who scored at Yarmouth recently is feared most.
17:54 – Self Praise
This doesn’t look the strongest maiden for the track and it looks an excellent opportunity for SELF PRAISE to open his account. He ran a cracker to be second in the Woodcote at Epsom last time, still looking in need of the experience but well suited by a strongly-run race, doing all of his best work at the finish. The step up to seven furlongs will be in his favour now and, provided none of the newcomers are above average, he should take plenty of stopping. Killybegs Warrior makes most appeal of the debutants and needs checking in the market.
18:29 – Judith
JUDITH is bred to need time and distance, but looked a good prospect when making a winning debut over this trip at Ascot last month, and she is open to any amount of improvement now. She was given an educational ride, but did it impressively all under a hands-and-heels ride, and this looks a perfect opportunity for her to follow up. Al Nafir, who was last seen winning at Kempton in November, looks the obvious danger.
19:04 – Cosmic Desert
The form of COSMIC DESERT‘s penultimate run at Windsor has a strong look to it and, while he was unable to land the odds at Lingfield since, he makes plenty of appeal now his attentions are turned to handicaps from what looks a fair mark. Fellow Godolphin representative Return To Dubai is a danger, while there could be more to come from Atheby over this distance, too.

19:39 – John O’Groats
JOHN O’GROATS shaped well on his handicap debut at Windsor where he was returning from a nine-month absence and, likely to strip fitter this time and with further progress likely, Michael Bell’s charge is fancied to take another step forward and come out on top. It Is Now showed clear signs of ability in three starts as a juvenile and he is feared now handicapping off what looks a fair opening mark.
20:10 – Nizaaka
NIZAAKA won her final start for Roger Varian by a wide margin at Wolverhampton in November and made a pleasing start for new connections when beaten a short head in second at Newbury 17 days ago. That was also her turf debut but she shaped as though ahead of her mark for much of the race and Benoit de la Sayette claim more than offsets the 3 lb rise she incurred for that performance, so there is plenty to like about her chance. Divine Magic chased home a couple of progressive three-year-olds on her reappearance and may provide the chief threat.

20:44 – Anniversary Belle
The vote goes to ANNIVERSARY BELLE, who was a good third to a progressive type at Thirsk last month, and it’s perhaps best not to read too much into her subsequent Redcar effort. Income was also below par on her latest start, but she looks pretty solid in the context of this race and is next on the list ahead of Pretty Shiftwell.
