The current price is too big for FLOTUS. She was a very smart filly last season, she’s got lots of early toe to get her into a good position and probably needed the run on her return. If she’s 25/1 and bigger I’d definitely back Flotus each-way.
CANDLEFORD is the pick for me here for William Haggas. It’s his first run of the season and he’s drawn in stall 18 which is a really good thing if you have a horse who can race with a bit of daylight. I don’t think he has any issue with that and Tom Marquand certainly has the confidence to ride him off the rail and get the best out of him.
SANDRINE shaped really well behind Prosperous Voyage in the 1000 Guineas. Despite being badly drawn she kept on really well. I don’t think she’s the best filly in this race but I don’t think she’s been given enough credit for that run. I think she’s a fair each-way bet at the prices, especially with any extra places.

The one that caught my eye was FRESH HOPE. I thought she won really nicely on handicap debut at Doncaster last time out and has gone up just enough to get into this race. She looks like a filly who will progress further and she will stay further which is important in this race because they do tend to go hard.
Changingoftheguard might be venerable on the quicker ground and I think OTTOMAN FLEET should be favourite, and he could well be come the off. Recovered well after an early stumble at Newmarket to win a listed event last time. He’s only had two runs and will improve a chunk here.
Ruthin has to be interesting but she has a lot of weight on her back. You wouldn’t be surprised if she turns out to be a Group 1 or Group 2 filly. It’s difficult to know exactly where you stand with her so I’ll take one at a bit of a price and that’s NYMPHADORA. She’s a big horse who wants a fast surface and Harry Davies takes 5lbs off. Given the class she showed last time out and I think there’s more to come from her. With a high draw and a double-figure price, she’d be my each-way shout.

Royal Ascot 2.30pm Mawj
There’s no great betting appeal in the Albany for me, although MAWJ was very impressive at Newmarket, and would be my token choice on that basis.
