Day four is here and one thing to factor in is the 30+ degrees heat for some of these horses to contend with. If you’ve got one that is a worrying type all the heat is going to be no good.
Royal Ascot 2.30pm – Mawj
I like the Godolphin owned MAWJ, who is very well related and is a sister to Modern Games, who won at the Breeders Cup. It was a slow run race at Newmarket last time out and she was still very impressive. Meditate is the obvious danger having won both her starts.
Royal Ascot 3.05pm – Twilight Jet
Perfect Power is the favourite and has the best two-year-old form. The trip was just too far in the Guineas but the form of his win in the Greenham Stakes got a boost with the horse who finished second, Lusail, getting narrowly beaten in the St James’s Palace Stakes earlier in the week. Perfect Power has been sent back down to 6f here and it looks perfect for him.
However, the horse I like at the prices is TWILIGHT JET. He does not have to find much on the book having finished close up to the favourite in the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket. He looked like he had done well over the winter when winning at Naas and he is the value in here.

Royal Ascot 3.40pm – Just Fine & Candleford
JUST FINE, who is a son of See The Stars, is a typical Sir Michael Stout project. He took a while to find his feet last season and ran some good races. I just get the impression that this has been a well plotted affair. I am going to have a couple of goes in here as CANDLEFORD is of interest at the prices. He has some good form on the all-weather but has to overcome an absence. He is definitely worth a look.
Royal Ascot 4.20pm – Prosperous Voyage (each-way)
There is no doubt that Inspiral’s form of last season is the best around. There is no getting away from that but the obvious concern is the absence from the racecourse. She had a problem before the Guineas but if she is back to full fitness the others will struggle to beat her. However, I feel this trip will suit PROSPEROUS VOYAGE and she is a value bet each-way.

Royal Ascot 5pm – Fresh Hope
Charlie Fellowes has had Royal Ascot winners and FRESH HOPE, a daughter of New Approach, will handle conditions. She has a lovely light weight and could still be well handicapped.
Royal Ascot 5.35pm – Changingoftheguard
CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD is a son of Galileo and is really impressive in the flesh. He won very nicely at Chester on slower ground and didn’t disgrace himself in the Derby, but the concern is the ground as it will be a lot quicker than he has experienced in the past. Ottoman Fleet did well to win at Newmarket when nearly falling. He did well to get back up and there is no doubting he is smart and if the favourite doesn’t cope with conditions, Ottoman Fleet will take advantage.
Royal Ascot 6.10pm – Canonized
This is a hard race to work out. CANONIZED finished behind the smart El Cabello on the all-weather a couple of times earlier this year and there’s no disgrace there. She’s dropping back to 5f for this handicap. She may not be badly handicapped as she’ll stay and favourite Ruthin has looked a weak finisher in the past.
