Royal Ascot 2.30pm – Dramatised

Dramatised showed an electric change of gear when winning on her racecourse debut 47 days ago at Newmarket, posting an impressive speed figure in the process. The American raider Love Reigns will be all the rage as her trainer Wes Ward has such a fantastic record in this contest. However, the home contingent are going to provide strong opposition. Karl Burke who trains Dramatised has been bullish in the lead-up to this race and from stall 17 is drawn with some guaranteed pace runners to get an ideal tow into the contest.

Royal Ascot 3.05pm – Hafit

The Godolphin runner Hafit comes in here as top-rated in the race and is sure to be overlooked in the market as Nahanni is the stable’s first string. Hafit had some incredibly solid placed form last season and fits the profile of improving and that is generally needed to be successful in this contest. An inside stall position is an absolute must generally over a trip at Ascot and we are well drawn in stall one.

Royal Ascot 3.40pm – Shahryar

The Japanese raider Shahryar brings in some fantastic home form and put up another sparkling performance in Dubai on World Cup night. The ground will be quick and that is definitely in his favour as in Japan they race on very quick and firm conditions, whereas most in the line-up may not have experienced that before. There’s a question mark over how they’ll handle it.

Royal Ascot 4.20pm – Primo Bacio (each way)

Primo Bacio was well below her best on her seasonal return at Goodwood last time and bids to turn the form around with Bashkirova, who subsequently won at Epsom. Primo Bacio was well beaten and clearly ran woefully below expectations. She has a wonderful late change of pace that can see her run a huge race at big odds on this surface.

Royal Ascot 5pm – Fantastic Fox (each way) & Percys Lad (each way)

I will play a couple of big priced each-way runners in the Royal Hunt Cup where Paddy is paying an incredible 7 places if they all go to post.

The first is Fantastic Fox who had no luck whatsoever when making his challenge at Epsom last time and was the only one who was genuinely hitting the line strongly. Given a stronger pace to aim at now, he can be expected to thread his way through the field late on. Percys Lad was arguably unlucky last time forcing a very strong pace at Beverley and doing incredibly well to hold on for second place. He still has a little bit of wriggle room from a mark of 96 and will be ridden close to the front end.

Royal Ascot 5.35pm – Little Big Bear

The Ballydoyle runner Little Big Bear is a massive brute of a juvenile with naturally electric pace that he showed when dropping back down in distance to 5f last time at Naas for a comfortable success. That sees him head the market in this line-up, where the Aidan O’Brien/Ryan Moore combo could be dominant in the juvenile division this week.

Royal Ascot 6.10pm – Technique

Technique had some very good form in the book last season when placing lots of times in decent company. I’m hoping that it was just the track that caught her out last time when she disappointed on Epsom’s notorious cambers. Benoit de la Sayette has been booked to ride and his 5lb claim will be very handy.
